Fakes
I’ve been at this so long that fakes are pretty easy for me to spot on eBay. Look for one particular model variation being listed multiple times at ridiculously Low prices. Look for broken English descriptions. Look for suspicious knives being shipped from California coastal port areas. Look for sel...

Phoenix
Hi: I have a Spyderco Phoenix that I bought years ago along with countless other Spydercos. The Phoenix has number 092 etched on the blade and stamped on the box. Was this part of a numbered collectors run. Never noticed the number until I started looking at these knives on eBay with numbers and out...

Wegner Jr.
Don't know why this knife has never been produced as a sprint run. I don't believe that Tim Wegner's website even lists this variation anymore. One of my all time favorites that introduced me to Spyderco knives. I had a full sized Wegner but the Jr. Was my favorite.

Favorite EDC
Probably like many of us I have a stash of Spydercos and Most of mine are custom collaborations and hard to get models. My all time go to knives used to be the Calypso Jr., then the C49 Wegner Jr. As of the last few years the Dialex Junior is the perfect EDC for me. Love the handle, the wide thin bl...

Your thoughts on pre-ordering
I have pre-ordered before but it took a long time to get the knife and sometimes the early runs had problems. In some instances prices on the web soared after the knife came out and then again, sometimes the price on the web dropped dramatically (T-Mag) only to rise again. I have 2 of all Alex's Spy...

Didn't realize all the uses for a Maddox
I bought it to compliment a mini cleaver that I have. Both are razor sharp.
The Maddox is a super tool. This evening I
needed to cut 2 thick frozen pizzas in half. The Maddox did the work instantly and perfectly. I love the heft of the tool and the G10 scales and use it in cooking often.

Dialex Jr.
Have been EDC-ing Dialex's Jr. and have found that the blade/pivot keeps constant friction and can't be adjusted to let the blade swing free. It dawned on me that this was how the knife was designed-to keep youngsters from slicing their fingers off. Can thinner washers make the blade blade have more...

Pivot Washers
Some of the finest Spydercos that I have owned have had Mylar or some other plastic looking pivot washers. They all worked great for me. Other knives have had bronze pivot washers which seem more substantial. There is a reason why some knives get synthetic washers and others get metal. What is the r...

Never any problems with any of these knives other than blade centering. As well as I remember I once bought 5 gray Calypso Jr.s at a great price and EDC'd one for 5 years in the most extreme conditions. I gifted or sold all but my EDC and then later sold it on some forum for 10 or 15 dollars. Just a...

C52P was hardest Calypso Jr. to find. I had nearly given up until I saw this knife on eBay that looked like a C52P. I got it for next to nothing because it had a British Land Rover commemorative logo on the scales. It had never been used but had carry marks. I buffed off the logos, sent it to Spyder...

Calypso Jr.'s
The C52's are great knives and I EDC'd a gray one for years.
I have all 9 variations and the C52P was the hardest to find. I got the
C52 BMS Experimental from BH49.

Most user friendly knife
Dialex Junior just seems to fit my hand perfectly and does all the right things.
Just my take on a great design. As a skinner, the Junior is right up there with the Wegners. For some reason I have 2 Adventuras, different knives but great designs.
Love Dialex's knives.

Thoughts on the SS Balance
Love everything about this knife except for the size. It is more like a piece of jewelry than any Spyderco I own. Can't clip it into my watch pocket as my mini SAK rides there and I need the scissors and file of the SAK. Thought about removing the clip and carrying it on a chain around my neck. If i...

Re: Kobalt tools
I have Proto, Craftsman, Starrett and Klein tools. The Kobalt Torx tool filled a need with no hassel and on short notice. I have no other Kobalt tools so I have no opinion on them and probably won't buy any more of them as I have a lifetime supply of most hand tools. Appreciate the input.

Another decent Torx tool
Used a Harbor Freight Torx T8 bit to reverse the clip on my Junior. It stripped the screw head out. Charlynn sent me new clip screws and in the meantime I found a kobalt Torx tool at Lowes in the precision tool section. It has 4 reversible bits that nest in the handle for a total of 8 bits. A ball d...

OK here goes: Began riding in 1956 on a new Cushman Eagle financed by my paper route. Later traded up to a Triumph Tiger. Went into the Navy and served aboard a destroyer. Came out of that and bought a new 1966 Suzuki X6 Hustler. Later an XLCH Sportster. You have probably never heard of Sporster leg...
