Get the Diamond rods then sell the Gatco you will never use it again unless someone borrows your Sharpmaker and never returns it... Say can I borrow your Sharpmaker when you get it? :)

If you can wait for it, usually the prices drop during the Christmas season on Amazon when stores are really competing for your business.

The Sharpmaker is a great deal. Just add a leather strop with some jeweler's rouge to the process and after a little experience it will perform as well as the more expensive sharpening systems.

I usually get it the next day, unless it is backordered... Of course, it helps to live less than 15 miles from CS. :)

If you don't baby the blades then the real difference is with you. If you are anal about your edge and can't handle chips you will probably be more happier with VG-10.
