Re: Taking apart knives - part 2
If you want to make your screw constructed knives the equivalent of riveted, red or blue loctite should be able to accomplish this, whereas I can't see the opposite possible.
I’ve seen that recommended. If Spyderco ever makes another run of the Kahr Delica, I’ll probably give them ...

Re: Taking apart knives - part 2

My Spyderco knives are weapons first, tools second and as such I want simplicity and low maintenance. My Gen 1’s Delica’s and Endura’s have only two pins and no liners. If they get dirty inside, they are extremely easy to clean. The way I look at it, screws can eventually work themselves loose. Espe...

Re: Taking apart knives - part 2

I can’t recall ever having a desire to take any of my knives apart and I would be thrilled with a return to pinned construction. At least on the models I’m interested in. Most of the average people I’ve talked to about such matters feel the same. Enthusiasts usually feel very differently and althoug...

Re: Plastic Knives are BEST.

My Gen 1 Delica’s and Endura’s from the 90’s are still serving me well. If I come across NIB ones on eBay, I usually will buy or bid on them. No liners and pinned construction, super lightweight and very low maintenance. I’ve looked at the new models and just don’t see any advantages offered for my ...

Kahr Delica

Was the Kahr Delica manufactured in the same way other new Spydercos are made or did they just take already made standard Delica’s and regrind and modify them?

Thanks.

Dragonfly molded pocket clip

I'm wanting to know if end tip of the integral molded pocket clip on the old dragonfly's contacts the frame or if there is a little gap? Everyone I've ever seen has a gap, but they all have been used and the integral clips tend to bend out a little after use/carry, so I'm wondering if the clip tip c...

First gen Delica in blister pack

I buy a lot of first gen spyderco's and I came across this one for sale on ebay in a blister pack and bought it. It's a C11PSBK and is the 1/97 on the upper left corner the date of manufacture? I'm also wondering why this would come in a blister pack because I own a few from that same year and they ...

Re: what makes you pull the trigger on you're next spyderco?

Old Delica's and Endura's, G2 and Aus8 steel with the thick/wide molded clip. PE,CE,SE... I buy just about every NIB one I come across if the price is reasonable and occasionally used ones if in really good shape. I have a fairly sizable collection of them and carry one(usually a Delica) everyday an...

I looked at some of the LE Delicas and not sure how he would feel about a Damascus blade. I will have to ask him. I am tempted to give him the one I carried when he was born actually and maybe a new one, one of the orange ones. He has the older green handled CE. Got some time to think about it. I w...

Where to find a Broken tip Delica?

I'm looking for a Gen 1 Delica with a broken tip to try my hand at grinding it down for a Chicago carry knife. I don't really want to try it with an intact one, but figure that if I find one with a broken tip, it would be cheap and there's really nothing to lose and a good knife isn't ruined if I sc...

Some have a less lethal blunt end and pointed end(for use as a stabbing weapon) while others have two blunt ends so as not to penetrate and intended for use as an impact weapon and is based on the kubotan/persuader baton, but more politically friendly and legal since it is not only a purpose built w...

The Karahawk isn't for rescuing others. Its for rescuing me. And No, I'm not a cop just yet, but I'm pretty close to getting to the academy; I'm in college and working as a dispatcher. In your case as a soon to be Police Officer, it makes sense that the secondary utility knife should also be adequa...

I would think your Delica would fill that role quite nicely and is one the smallest Spyderco I'd personally carry for utility or self-defense unless restricted due to local blade length laws. I have a dragonfly for carry when I visit Chicago and feel it's just too diminutive as I dislike not being t...

I much prefer the Spyderhole to be chamfered and all my Gen-1's are nicely done. I never have found any problems with getting a grip or slipping and have fairly large thumbs . I had a Gen 3 Delica(since sold it)which had an extremely sharp hole. I also was experimenting opening it with the clip remo...

I had read on another forum that the blade profile was different on the Black Bladed E4 and D4 because they we're originally intended to be only sold to Police and Military and that's the way they wanted it made, but due to public demand, they we're added to regular catalog and to civilians. But, as...

If I was doing one myself, I would use a belt sander like a 1X30 or 1X42. Use an 80-grit belt and grind a little, dip in water, and repeat. Keep the blade cool and don’t let its color change. Finish with a 240-grit belt.

Those were the recommendations an expert on the subject gave me.
