Another impact Star Trek is having in our society is that the scientific community is adapting the terminology that was used. One example is NASA is as most of your know working on a "warp drive" for space ships.

I have one of those Benchmade Barrages you have pictured, and love it. EDCed for 6 or so months. A little large for me for EDC so I recently purchased a Benchmade mini Barrage 585. It is just perfect for my uses and EDC.

How the heck am I going to stay on my healthy eating program and diet when ...

Gotta give those folks a big thank you. The people at KnifeWorks. They came in today (Sunday) to process as many orders as they could to get them in the mail in the morning. I had a Benchmade mini barrage 585 on order since the 12th, and received an email a couple of hours ago (about 3:00pm) that ...

Non Knife owners and Guns

I notice in tonydahose's thread, "At what age did you learn to shoot a gun?" that many knife owners started at a very young age. I will assume that people answering his question are knife owners.

I wonder if this would hold for non knife owners? What would be your guess?

I grew up in rural East Texas where guns were a way of life. I think I shot my first .22 at 4. I don't remember safety ever being stressed, but it was absolutely understood and practiced. If I remember correctly, I started hunting by myself, primarily squirrels and ducks, at around 10 or 11.

I ...

Oh how times have changed. I remember back when I was in the 10th grade. My dad bought me a pump 20 gauge shot gun to squirrel hunt. I carried it to school to show my friends and school Principal. That evening I had to take the Principal squirrel hunting. BTW we killed a few.

I don't think that ...

Edges

Jack, I know you are experienced enough to know this, but do not forget that some metals will not sharpen as "sharp" as other metals.

After a week or so, the unscientific observations by me of the M390 on my Barrage 581 sharpened to a 30 degree angle with an Edge Pro is that it loses it's arm hair shaving edge very fast without any rolling or chipping, but then maintains a very sharp paper slicing edge forever after that.

It is still too early for me to make a comment about the M390 used in my knife other than I can put a super sharp edge on it without any trouble at all using my Edge Pro. I will say this old man is flipping out however on the spring assisted opening feature on this knife. This is the first knife I ...

Thank you Fancier. That is the kind of info I was looking for. I will report back on how mine holds up in a month or two.

I do have several Spydercos, one of which is/was ZDP which my nephew "beat" me out of. I just sharpened it for him 3 or 4 days ago. He is rough on a knife. It did not roll, but ...

M390 Super Steel

Are any of you fellows (and gals) familiar with the M390 Super Steel? I broke down and bought a Benchmade Barrage 581, G10 and Al Handles, M390 Super Steel, Plain Edge a few days ago.

It is still too early for me to give a true evaluation of how I feel about it, but after a couple of days, I think ...

Check out the Kahr P380 for carry. A lot of people think the 380 is too small of a caliber for defense, but with good ammo I sure as **** would not want anyone shooting me at 20 or less yards.

I use my stone dry. No water. I wipe them good on a cloth (most of the time my coverall's pants leg) when I get ready to use the tapes. No problem with the tapes. I can see where you could have a problem if the stones are dirty, wet or dry.

Jack, my EDC at present is a D2 steel. I brought it down to 30 degrees inclusive, and most of the time now when I want to touch up, I use the 2000, 3000, and 6000 grit tapes. I end up with a very sharp edge, and mirror finish on the knife. BTW, I do not bevel the edge.

I really like using the tapes ...

Water is the answer. Every Time he starts barking give him a good squirt of water, and continue until he stops also giving him a command such as "shut up" at the same time.

There are tons of info out there. Google search on "Setting up a fish tank", "Community tank fish", and so on. Start out wrong and all your little fishes will die. If you are doing everything correctly, it will normally take 8 to 10 days before your new tank will be ready to accept fish. And ...
