Re: Spyderco Military... 7 days later

I gave my youngest son a Military model for Christmas. He loves it.

I like those deep pocket clips, I think I may check into a few for mine.

Re: Spyderco Endura Lock Failure?

Hi Viking, Melissa works with Charlynn. sal 10-4, I appreciate it...I thought that loss of hearing my wife complains about was possibly showing. :D I also gave the son who is waiting to get his Endura back for ya'll, a Military model for Christmas....He probably will have a hard time choosing which...

Re: Spyderco Endura Lock Failure?

Now I am wondering after reading the rest of the thread since my last visit...Did I get the name wrong on the Customer Service rep who called me? I thought she said "Melissa", but wonder if it was "Charlynn"? I don't hear as well as I used to but those two names aren't even close...

What knife or knives did you give or receive this Christmas?

I am more about giving vs receiving, so ref knives this year - I gave my 20 year old nephew a Cold Steel Voyager XL, my last NIB PE Benchmade PIKA to my 28 year old niece, a NIB fully serrated Spyderco Endura to my oldest son's 15 year old girlfriend, and a LNIB Spyderco Military with a combo blade ...

Re: Not impressed with Spyderco

I recently sent in an Endura that stopped locking open and closed on and cut my son's finger while he was using it (thread here in this forum). We are "knife guys", live out in the country, and use out knives every day (not necessarily the same knife, but the one we have with us) for some ...

Re: Spyderco Endura Lock Failure?

OBJ Viking, There is no need to touch any screws to access the tang notch on an Endura. It's just behind the jimping on the spine of the blade, and a toothpick or straight pin is all you need to clear it out. You might have had a different issue with your son's Endura, but crud in the notch is very...

Re: Spyderco Military... 7 days later

So... it's been 7 days with the Military. Yeah, the satin/camo "G.I. Joe color" as someone put it last week, which I personally really like. I think it looks awesome, Your tools, it's what you like, not much else matters lol. I actually really wouldn't mind a PM2 in the same color scheme ...

That is an amazing collection, and given your relatively young age, even more amazing.

I never would have figured that affecting the knife blade's centering...You learn something new every day. Thanks

Re: Spyderco Endura Lock Failure?

Since the Endura hadn't been disassembled, my money is on crud in the notch impeding the engagement of the lock bar. It happens so easily and hides in there. I loosened the screws and pulled them out as much as possible to open up the side to look in there for trash but didn't want to disassemble i...

Re: Spyderco Endura Lock Failure?

For clarification on the above post - No I do not make him "do the hedges" around here with a pocket knife. :) He was supposed to be gathering some greenery from the hedges mixed in with the trees by the barn to feed to the goats and pigs to supplement their diet. He probably got bored bre...

Re: Spyderco Endura Lock Failure?

OBJ Viking, Is it one of the newer Enduras, or is it the older one piece handle style? I went back and looked up when I bought it to put up and later give him and it is an Endura 4 that I ordered in August 2012. Ah, gotcha. I did have a similar issue with a Delica 4 that I reassembled incorrectly. ...

Re: Spyderco Endura Lock Failure?

I own 4 Endura's (soon to be 5 :D) of wich I use 2 on a somewhat regular base and 1 is used allot. I've never had any of them fail on me. There have been some reported lock failures on them, but that's usually when batoning wood or something. When you want to baton with any knife, it's better to ho...

Re: Spyderco Endura Lock Failure?

I don't consider lint to be lock failure, and get annoyed ( no offense to anyone here) when lock failure is used as a diagnoses for what could be called "maintenance failure". To me, lock failure is when the lock no longer functions as a result of a mechanical or structural defect or simp...

Re: Spyderco Endura Lock Failure?

That is what I am wondering - ie: If maybe he got junk/crud, etc, from his pocket into the lock that I can't see. I soaked it in warm soapy water and tried to clean it with a can of compressed air/keyboard cleaner, and as I said I looked in it to see if it had any visible obstructions, but didn't se...

Spyderco Endura Lock Failure?

Has anyone here experienced lock failure on a Spyderco Endura? I gave one to my son that failed on him recently and I was wondering how common failure of this sort is in the Endura line? I have never had this happen before with any other Endura and want to replace his knife, but I also want to give ...

The original thread title is "Any Radio Activity / Radiation coming of SEKI-City Spyderco steel?" While so many have focused on the "radioactivity" or radiation aspect, I took my knives into a very quiet room and picked up, (very faintly), 4 local FM stations, 2 AM stations, and ...
