I personally like the unmilled liners. I'm not particular when it comes to having the lightest possible package in a knife, and I like that there are no holes in the liner for dirt to get caught in, making knife cleaning a breeze. That being said, I cannot see any reason not to drill them out yourse...

If I could train lab rats in hand to hand combat, this is exactly how I would arm them.

Although the G-10 doesn't really need to be, as the way this knife is designed the handle could be made of glass that constantly secretes melted butter and I still wouldn't lose my grip on it! That could be a convenient feature on a knife if you eat a lot of corn on the cob, but would be disgusting...

I would go with a Cat if maxing out on blade length is your first priority. But the SE Dragonfly will hold a working edge longer if he isn't able to sharpen it himself.

Deacon,

Interesting to know, thanks for the info!

I have a factory second CF Cat I picked up a couple years ago. Its a factory second because the blade centering is slightly off. The knife is outstanding though. Great quality, very ergonomic, love the size and blade shape. Haven't yet experienced the G10 version but I would expect no different.

This incident may help strengthen the resolve of the dedicated fans and draw us closer together, turning a tragedy into a blessing. Almost always have 2 blades when I leave the house, one of which is always a small, "friendly" knife like the Dragonfly. I recently picked up a neck sheath for my Ladybug, so lately it's been 3 blades at a time :)

I appreciate high-quality blades and have owned (and currently own) knives from most of the top production knife-makers. I have gravitated to Spyderco more and more over the years because of their outstanding customer service, innovative designs, and overall value. I'd say about 90% of my cutlery pu...

Knives in the Wild

Well maybe not that wild. . . but I've always been a fan of knife pics in outdoor settings. Here's a couple of my Dragonfly from a recent outing to get things started (I'm not a professional photographer, so I'll be very interested to see what others can do :) ) http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/f...

Pretty sure that's an Endura 2. It was first produced in 1997 if my research is correct.

Love the sharpmaker! Just got one a couple days ago and watched the DVD. I've always considered myself mediocre at sharpening with stones, but I managed to get shaving-sharp results on the blades I worked on. Can't wait to try some serrated edges on it.

Having the SS Police, I would say go with the G-10 version for SD. I love the feel of the stainless, but it can be very slick if your hand is sweaty or bloody (as would be likely in an SD scenario). I could definitely envision a hand sliding forward onto the blade in that situation.
