Re: What was the last knife you carried before buying your first Spyderco?
SAK and a Gerber hunting knife when I was outdoors. Spyderco was really my introduction to quality folders. My first Spyderco knife was a Phoenix I think ... actually no it was a CF Caly. Here is the Gerber, from the days when Gerber made quality knives. https://i.imgur.com/vjgkRWg.jpg https://i.img...

Re: Benchmade 940
I carry a 940 all the time, in fact I have one in my pocket today. I paired down my collection greatly, only keeping knives I found I really liked to carry and this is one I kept and do carry often. The thing I like about the 940 is that it as a fairly large knife in a compact and pocket-able packag...

Re: Considering an Atlantic Salt..
I have owned a Saver Salt for a number of years. Great ergonomics and I find the size is perfect for me, might be small for you. Super sharp with the serrations in H1 and nice that you don't have to worry about the steel. I have really scaled down my collection, keeping the knives I found the most u...

Re: Dragonfly 2 vs Urban
I love the H1 DFly. I use mine as a travel knife we just came back from Mexico where I carried it exclusively. I wear a large glove size so may hands are large but not huge and I am amazed how well this knife fits. I typically carry a 7" knife these days as my taste in size has gotten smaller o...

Re: Mountain Biking
Nice Yeti SB! Surprised you don't have a dropper on that rig. I can't hardly live without one now, a lot more fun, and more efficient... Even put on one my XC bike. I will second that! I didn't think it would be that big a deal but my last bike came with one and I have to say it is super convenient.

Re: Mountain Biking
Wow that's a walk down memory lane! I had my first Specialized (a Rock Hopper) in probably the late 80's. Rock solid and probably weighed about 40lbs. Currently I own 2,a trail bike ( a Stumpjumper Pro Carbon Evo) and a downhill bike that I use at the bike park (a Demo 7) The Demo is probably the sa...

Re: Any Benchmade Fans Here?
I have had a couple the only one I have held onto is the 940, I think it is great model. It's very slim and easy to pocket, particularly for its length. They used decent steel and there are some nice details such as the ridged scales and the titanium back spacer. In addition, I love the action of th...

Re: Mountain Biking
I am not an expert in that price range, but what I would do is stick to a good brand like, speicalized, trek, giant, Rocky mountain, Kona, diamond back etc. etc. Not a Costco brand or a Huffy or CCM. I would get a hard tall with a front shock but not a full suspension bike because in that price ran...

Re: Mountain Biking
Southern Wisconsin is Trek central and my wife and I bought a 29" X-Caliber 8 for my son last summer. We paid a bit over $900 after shopping around. My son immediately wanted to add all sorts of upgrades and doo-dads but we bought the 8 because it would be more durable and we are not going to ...
