Re: Are We Witnessing The Death Knell of K390 In Production Folders?
Why would you suggest this? Didn't they just convert the entire FRN line over to K390 from VG10? Or did I miss an announcement that is changing again?

Re: SALT Shaman, Thoughts?
But this is the point I am trying to get across. Based on my testing/borderline-abuse with the magnacut mule-teams, Magnacut is basically a stainless Cruwear. Magnacut hasn't stropped back as nicely as Cruwear, but edge retention and toughness is essentially the same between my two mules. I haven't...

Re: SALT Shaman, Thoughts?
It's interesting that you rule out Magnacut but qualify Cruwear. From my own experience testing z-wear, pd1, and magnacut mules, I found them all very similar -- so much so that I would not be able to distinguish them in use. This is likely because the carbide volume is so similar between magnacut ...

Re: SALT Shaman, Thoughts?
No thanks. The Shaman is one of the beefier heavier use folders that Spyderco makes, so imo it needs a really tough blade with exceptional edge holding. None of the salt blade steels really qualify, including Magnacut. Cruwear and similar performing steels are ideal for this format folder imo.

Re: Manix Modifications. What have you done? What do you want to do?
It's not about modding to mitigate failure. I like to make my knives different from what everyone else has, and improve my experience when I use it. My Manix2 with the Ti cage, upgraded spring, linerless Ti, SiN bearing is without doubt a night and day difference compared to an unmodded one. Watche...

Re: Manix Modifications. What have you done? What do you want to do?
There's absolutely no mods needed for a regular production Manix 2, nothing. All the supposed "upgrade" cages and balls and springs, are complete nonsense, and only exist to generate profits by the aftermarket sector. I've hardly ever seen a stock cage or ball fail on a properly used Manix...

Re: “Best” steels video with Larrin
Triple B! Perhaps you know the answer - do you know why some of the 15V knives from seconds sale have little dots on them? Speckled, like a dusting of pepper. https://imgur.com/h0wJq3m.jpg That is absolutely not good in any way shape or form. Those air pockets are likely there throughout the entire...

Re: “Best” steels video with Larrin
Basically a marketing video for his Magnacut, and notice that he slams M390/20CV which are wildly popular for good reasons, and not coincidentally also direct competitors to Magnacut. Totally not surprising as we've seen this exact playbook before.

Re: Large fixed blades in 20CV
I personally don't see 20CV as a tough enough steel for a hard use fixed blade application. Now as a kitchen knife or light use fixie it seems ideal, not really sure why it's not more popular for those specific applications, considering the incredibly high edge retention and corrosion resistance it ...

Not a disease, it's called lack of self-control.

Re: I may Have Gotten Scammed….
What is the point of this post? People get scammed every day by doing stupid things on dozens of different platforms, sending people money they don't know or haven't even vetted, etc. Apparently either you failed miserably at doing your job as a buyer, or the seller has some valid reasons for a dela...

Re: KnifeJoy Neon Green G-10 Manix2 in CPM-20CV
OOS again. I wonder if these are returns. How else to explain the on again off again inventory? Some retailers hold back a bit of inventory to trickle out slowly after the initial sellout, in an attempt to combat bots/flippers. Can't speak to it's effectiveness, but if it results in a few more sale...

Re: Best place to sell some Spyderco’s online
i'd skip ebay, their fees have never been higher, they also charge mandatory tax which is ridiculous for something that was already taxed when originally sold. how many times it is acceptable to tax the same item over and over? according to the government, an infinite number of times. no thanks. i h...

Re: KnifeJoy Neon Green G-10 Manix2 in CPM-20CV
I think it's a solid value in a robust folder with a very good performing steel, despite some steel nerds' opinion to the contrary. Some dark rit dye can super easily make those scales a darker shade of green in short order if desired. This is an easy buy.

Re: Larger Spyderhole models
Honestly not a big fan of the large holes, it significantly weakens the blade across that area with that much material being gone, as well as any further weakening caused from the actual cutting that area out of the blade stock. Sure, folding knives aren't intended to be heavy use/prying tools, but ...

Re: River's Edge Exclusive
I just received mine yesterday. I am in love with it. I love graffiti on blades so this one really appeals. I will probably stash this one in the safe for a while and probably never use it. That kinda sucks for me as I wanted to see the performance of 10V steel. Has anyone dealt with 10V much? I kn...
