Re: Spyderco Shaman News and Gossip Thread

Exactly why the Shaman was worth $30-$35- more than the Para2. But then the price went up another $35-$40-. I bought another anyway for almost $200 becauses I wanted the DLC (see above pic). I love the radius edged handles too. I just wish they had the Para2 style checkering on the faces of the hand...

Re: Spyderco Shaman News and Gossip Thread

Doesn't it though? i gotta admit I don't understand why people want sprint run blades in every imaginable color or steel ever made of the same knife. Aside from M390 and Elmax one is as good as another when it's in my pocket S30V or CPM154. They all cut well, hold an edge and sharpen easily. They al...

Re: Spyderco Shaman News and Gossip Thread

Well, When the DLC came out I just couldn't resist any longer. The more I use it the more i like it. In my book it will never be as perfect as the PM2 but I'm definitely keeping it in my pocket.

Re: Spyderco Shaman News and Gossip Thread

The DLC is a great looking knife and I might buy one just for the **** of it but I'll be very bummed if an improved grip Sprint run comes out right after. A wider rear grip like the SnG or Hinderers would go a LONG way towards making it a better hard use tool. When I grip The blade with the thumb an...

Re: Spyderco Shaman News and Gossip Thread

The SnG is my all time favorite blade due in part to blade size, shape and the fact that the handle widens in back providing an excellent grip. I own several and think they are not even comparable but this is all personal preference of course. I'm not saying my opinion is more valid than yours in an...

Re: Spyderco Shaman News and Gossip Thread

Should the Shaman be released with a radiused fluted scale like the Military and other model sprint runs I would definitely reconsider. As it is I think the slippery scales tip the the balance in the PM2's favor although I like the idea of the radius edges and a departure from standard G10 checkered...

Re: Spyderco Shaman News and Gossip Thread

This is just sad. I bought the Shaman at $150 when first released. This is the price all retailers advertised. It wasn't as nice as my PM2 not affording much in the way of grip but I decided to keep it anyway but I was laid off two days later and was forced to return it. The state screwed me around ...

Re: Any more info on larger Native models (3.5, Chief)?

Forgive my ignorance but what is RIL. I realy like the handle design on the current Shaman pictures shown in the pre-purchase pics on some of the knife sellers pages but what I would really like to see is a fluted CF version. Any idea if that will happen? I'm not buying both and I will hold out if I...

Re: S90V Fluted Carbon Fiber Native 5 is alive!

So guys am I correct that the amazon ad I posted has an incorrect blades length listed?. I don't believe there in a knife shop anywhere near my area or I wouldn't buy mail order or used all the time. Id love to peruse and fondle Spedercos, hinderers, striders, MKT's and especially customs before I b...

Re: S90V Fluted Carbon Fiber Native 5 is alive!

.... The fluted CF Native 5 is an extremely beautiful knife but like I said. I won't own safe queens. It's only a safe queen if you keep it in the safe :D Welcome to the forum rotten. You should check out the JB Outman Exclusive Yojimbo 2 in Black DLC S90V and Coyote brown handles. A very capable b...

Re: S90V Fluted Carbon Fiber Native 5 is alive!

Spyderco does do that with a few models. I'm thinking of the Delica/Endura, Manix 2/Manix XL, Para 3/Paramilitary2/Military, and Dice/Domino. I'm probably missing a few. Also, with the Native you have the upcoming Shaman. It sounds like the Native isn't for you. I love it and am happy that Spyderco...

Re: S90V Fluted Carbon Fiber Native 5 is alive!

I guess what I'm trying to say is when a company makes a great knife it should be offered in multiple blade lengths to suit different users instead of saying "this IS the product we make. Take it or leave it". MKT makes the Marauder in three sizes. Hinderer makes the XM 18 in both 3" ...

Re: S90V Fluted Carbon Fiber Native 5 is alive!

Hi Sal. My prefference (And I understand this is a personal choice) is 3.5-3.75 in. I have literally thousands of dollars worth of knives and a lot are expensive customs. I favor the Para 2 (primary carry for any situation) the Strider SnG, and the Hinderer XM 18 3.5. As an auto mechanic I use knive...

Re: S90V Fluted Carbon Fiber Native 5 is alive!

Am I the only one that finds it horribly disappointing this is only offered in the nearly useless blade length of only 3" Who really finds a knife that small to be practical and useful? Nobody that uses their blades 50 or more time a day like I do. A knife that sits in safe fulfills no purpose ...

Cali law makes it tough. I've got a couple of Warren Thomas Ti neckers and I think I will sport one for awhile.

Knife owners worst injury nightmare?

Sorry for the long post in advance. So I have an old motorcycle injury from years ago that shattered my right wrist and it's held together with plates and screws. It acts up with overuse now and then and being an auto mechanic by trade it get's a lot of daily abuse. I didn't think much of it when it...

Thanks for the replies all. I think I'll look for a used one. I Was planning on asking Brad Southard to do a custom regrind on the blade as well but that's a little too much money to tie up in just one knife for me right now.

orange scales for manix 2?

This is probably a repost and I'm sorry if it is. I know Spyderco did a sprint run with orange scales but does anyone know where I could buy just the scales pre-made? Does Spederco sell them or does anyone know of a good pimper who makes them? I'd prefer to get them pre-made rather than send the bla...
