One thing to remember. Machetes, parangs, goloks, etc., at least when I use them, often whack into knots in wood or hit the ground with stones, rocks and other objects that put chips in blades and roll edges. My .02 is that it is best to see how a particular knife feels in YOUR hand before buying, if at all possible. Sometimes, with relatively inexpensive knives ( <$100) I will take a chance.
