its a good system for the money. I like the engineering of the Wicked Edge system but the $$$ is very high. I think they re did the clamp on the WE system to handle FFG blades better. Not sure on this though.

well after many uses. I think the Gatco system is good for kitchen knives and thats about it. In short, there are too may interferences with this rubbing on that or this hitting that on the clamp and stones. I cannot use an angle smaller than 19 degrees. Most it is 22 degrees minimum. Hard to get ...

thanks for the replies. I cannot get the angle to match the factory angle because I hit the blade holderholder/angle piece with the stones. I am essentially making a secondary bevel if this makes sense. I will play with it some more.

Gatco system

Tried it out. Has the ultra coarse, coarse, med, fine stones. Cannot get the knives (police 3 Endura4) as sharp as from the factory. Ordered an ultra fine stone and waiting for its delivery. I hope the UF stone will help. I think the Wicked Edge system will allow more control of angles but it is 3.5 ...

tried something different while waiting for my kydex sheet to arrive. I took a belt hook off the SERPA holster I had and used plastic fix to attach it to the knife, Not as nice as the mod before but much more durable. The other broke when the knife hit the floor. This wont. Works as well as the ...

I agree with the posts above. The FFG is much more domestic in duties. If you want to lean a little more toward the tactical side, and these knives would be "light" tactical to start with, then its saber grind. I have both and find the saber to deploy with the spyder hole a little easier than the ...

I have to admit that my modded Police 3 opens better than my factory waved Endura 4. But the Police 3 looks a little silly with my mod. Not quite as bad as the ziptie mod though IMHO. Sorry Ziptie guys..JMHO

Ultimately, I would rather have a hook ground into the blade but I do not have the tools to do that kind of work and have the blade look nice and smooth ect. I emailed a guy from this board named "brad", who does a lot of custom work on spydies, but I never heard back.

I like the kydex approach so far. KISS approach. Light, easily reversed, black color. Where do you get ONE sheet of kydex and what thickness?

which method are you talking about? The band winding, the kydex, the acrylic? A few approaches have been mentioned here.

If you are asking me, I used finger nail acrylic. I made a putty out of it and put it on and sanded with a small dremmel type rig. It doesw not come on and off.

I like your approach. How did you heat it? Boiling water? Heat gun? hair dryer? Torch? Lighter?
