DIY chamfering goes along way with this one.

Sweet! I'm going to chamfer the PM2 and new M2 too. 👍

Re: Why are the blade markings on Magnacut models so much lighter?

Under closer inspection, it appears as if the "engraving" is simply a high polish, rather than a laser engraving? Notice the absence of grind lines in the logo on this Siren. It has a mirror polish. https://i.postimg.cc/Hsg9qXc7/IMG-4903.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/cCVPXBmy/IMG-2323.jpg The s...

Re: Benchmade Water Series (salt series?)

Follow-up video, where he disassembles the knives. https://youtu.be/XJgGMVTJ7MU As mentioned in the “Native 5 Magnacut HRC” thread, he is using a rebound hardness tester that is neither the industry best practice nor accurate for knives. Still, the video is an interesting data point for corrosion re...

Re: Why are the blade markings on Magnacut models so much lighter?

The same light markings are on the LC200N salts. My guess is it is to reduce the chance of corrosion on the markings, probably because it has a smoother finish.

Re: The Magnacut Paramilitary 2

I do not have plans to replace the clip on the PM2 Salt. I figure the extra pocket retention is a good thing for the beach or outdoors, so I can live with it. That shallow MXG ti clip is a drop-in replacement for the OEM spoon clip on the PM2, Manix, Delica, Endura etc. I have one on the Swayback an...

Re: Military 2 Discussion (Merged)

The Cruwear M2 has landed on my doorstep. My example is pretty much perfect... 🎯

I've already put it to work, but I'm keeping it tip-down for now while I form an opinion.

Re: Benchmade Water Series (salt series?)

I'm getting out the popcorn 🍿 for the inevitable head-to-head tests against the Salt knives in Magnacut.

Curious about:
- blade hardness
- edge retention
- corrosion resistance of the BM hardware and spring
- corrosion resistance of BM stonewashed blade

Competition is good. 👍

Otter Ankermesser, a traditional German slipjoint pattern. The blade is 1075 carbon steel, hardwood handle with brass inlay. Still made in Solingen.

Re: Gayle Bradley 2 CQI?

In my opinion the lock access is not an issue, assuming that you don't have lock stick! I bought a very lightly used GB2 a few years ago when they were very hard to find new, and rumours were that the model had been silently discontinued. When it arrived I realised why it was sold. It had terrible l...

Re: Victorinox going bladeless

I think Victorinox is chasing an untapped market and revenue, which makes sense from a business perspective. I’m disappointed however how they phrased the news. They basically agreed with the loonies that a Swiss Army Knife is a weapon, instead of a tool. They could have communicated this a lot bette...

Resetting the bevels of our kitchen knives with the Tormek. I'm still mastering the technique, but I'm quite pleased with how easily I could get a uniform and clean edge on all of them. I have not been brave enough to take on pocket knives yet. Soon! Coarse, fine, extra fine diamond, leather wheel w...

Re: Gayle Bradley 2 CQI?

My Cruwear is acceptable, but the older M4 GB2 was not. I enlarged the detent hole slightly which fixed it completely.

I think there is room for improvement at the Taiwan factory wrt stronger detents. They are outstanding in all other areas.

Grease and dirt? Starting to rain? Time to pull out the GEC Northfield Un-X-Ld 735208 Trapper in Almond Bone. Great feel, high spring tension, good working knife. 🙂 Beautiful! I recently bought a GEC #23 Pioneer Trapper, the larger version of the #73, in what they call "woodland micarta"....
