I would say one aspect of the original box - at least for me - that has been left out here is that it is an indicator of the care with which the knife has been treated for its lifetime. This may be insignificant for a newer knife, but as others have said, the older the knife, the more value the box ...

And what was the reason it was suggested it may not be authentic on another forum? And was it from those pictures??

It looks pretty regular in this two pictures to me but that doesn't mean that much I don't think.

Unlikely, given the Tim Wegner has his own company. What might be possible would be a re-issue of the Ocelot, perhaps without the paw prints. Perhaps the high hollow grind vs the flat grind makes the blades look different in size

I think at a minimum a back lock would yield a new design and would not be the C48 Wegner model any longer...

It's a great knife. I agree that it should be reissued but with the liner lock.
