Re: Crucible Industries declares Chapter 11 bankruptcy

Sorry but the situation and what is happening remains unclear to me.

Will the names such as i.e. CPM-15V or Magnacut still exist?
Will the recipees of these steel be produced ealswere under a different name?

Re: LeafJumper

I have the LeafJ in k390.
Il like many things such as the blade shape, steel, ergo of the handle.
There is however imho a design flow which is the stud that holds the lock back.
I dismantled the knife to die the scales, polish the washers and sharpen the blade as it was poorly done on my sample ...

Re: Please Tell Me About 15V

When looking at Larrin’s page he gives 15v a rating for toughness of 3.5 similar to M390 and higher than Maxamet which receive a rating of 2.
But when looking at actual values

Re: CPM 15v Manix 2

With Crucible’s future uncertain, I can’t help but wonder what will happen to these specialized steel grades if the company were to disappear.
But with all readings I did, there seems in any case to be no more 15V in the future...

Re: PM2 in 15V or Magnacut or Cruwear ?

The BBB CPM 15V is a sprint run so it won't always be available.

CPM 15V is a very difficult steel to manufacturer, so it may not always be available in the future.

Crucible Industries LLC went to great lengths to produce the steel, it puts a great amount of wear and tear on the ceramic ...

PM2 in 15V or Magnacut or Cruwear ?

Hello all,

I love the PM2 despite its thin tip.
I am considering a new PM2.I would like to use a PM2 in the outdoor with relative peace of mind of not braking the tip.
I understand 15V is amazing (could still find one on secondary market) with very edge stability but was wondering if the Magnacut ...

Thank you so much for all the insights given.

Would BBB 15V tend to more chip or roll under impact ?

No, good question though.

However, it might be difficult to generate impact forces with a folding knife and swinging a folding knife like an axe might not be what a folding knife is ...

How much does the heat treatment of BBB improves (if it does?) the toughness of 15V ?
On larrin Webpage, he rates it just below 5 ft-lbs which should be very similar than M390.

Re: An S90V or 15V

Hello all,

I am considering aquiring a new Spyderco Model Native 5 and was hesitating between an upcoming 15V and an S90V.

The way I uderstand it is that toughness is about equal and edge retention, 15V may win but not by much.

One relatively big advantage of S90V would be that it would be ...

Re: Native 5 and Manix LW in 15v - A Dream Come True

Thanks for your response.
I am looking for a Manix 2 LW with 15v ….. I was wondering if the knife would be as hard use proof than a G10 version.
I know the 15v is not necessarily known for toughness but I am more asking towards the handle/construction differences/

I'm psyched about the 15V Manix LW for sure. I sold my G-10 version when I heard the LW would appear, so I'm currently without any 15V at all.
Hi,
Why do you prefer the LW version? Do you intend to replace original scales with i.e. AWT scales ?

Personal opinion, a listed as "soon" should be within a few weeks window and not something like can be 2 weeks up to 52 weeks...

Hi Chris,

BU is now stocking steel in the US. I think that N360 is one of the alloys they have here.

On the models made in Italy, we used N690 and Elmax because we felt they would be better performers. But I believe that even Elmax and N690 would have a tough time competing with ZDP and M4 in ...
