I like them too. Sure a hawkbill is not an "all-around knife" but it obviously can do some things far better than most other designs. It's a great tool for gardening and my wife has ruined several of them in that pursuit. I let her use Opinels for that task, I wouldn't let her touch my Spy...

Another great line from Tombstone: Val Kilmer to Kurt Russell, after listening to Kurt Russell lamenting that he can't seem to have a normal life, "There's no such thing as a 'normal life' Wyatt, there's only LIFE."

Lotta wisdom in there.

Cool pic. We have those pesky spiders in our backyard. Have to always think twice before you grab something out there or you might grab a handful of black widow too. My wife had me catch one once and put it in a jar. She wanted it for a school project our son was working on. Ever try to catch a blac...

Sorry for your problems Vampyrewolf. That can be incredibly frustrating. I hope you get everything worked out soon. To answer your question, I've been using XP home for a couple of years now, and (so far) it's been the most trouble free system I've ever used. Hope that hold up.

Boy I couldn't agree more. I've always felt that the Rookie was a great design. I gave mine (SS, PE) to a friend in Utah a few summers back and while I certainly don't regret making the gift, I do wish I had another Rookie to fill the void. Still looking....

Same here. I greatly prefer the PE. But I wouldn't trade the SE Dodo that's my latest EDC knife.

Couldn't make it; had to work. But I'll probably be going to the next Costa Mesa show in March. More Spydercos there anyway from the sound of it.

Yes, I'm very fond of my SE Dodo. In fact I'm really quite surprised at myself just how much I have taken to this funny-looking little knife. I've long been a fan of the reverse-S blade, having a couple of Crickets and a Meerkat. They are real cutters! But putting that style of blade on a handle you...

Yes, I also have one of those Baby Goddard PE black micartas, which I also bought from Mrs. Goddard (Phillis, I think her name is). It's a great little knife and I really like it, but if they were to reissue a limited run in micarta once again, I'd love to see them in that gorgeous burgundy micarta ...

vampyrewolf, you found out about cotton balls stuffed in soda straws on BF? How cool. I came up with that idea a couple months ago and shared it on another forum. I wonder if it worked it's way to BF or if someone else came up with the same idea by chance? Anyway, I think it's a great way to pack so...

There are other magnesium firestarters on the market but of course they all use the same element magnesium and a ferro-match sparker, so the only real difference between them is size and design. Some are bigger and even come mounted to hardwood handles which supposedly you can whittle if you are rea...

Hi ADS I thought I had learned how to sharpen a knife in the Boy Scouts. In fact, those rudimentary skills I learned were all I had to go on to produce moderately sharp blades for most of my adult life. Then I attended a knife sharpening class taught by Wayne Goddard at the old California Custom Kni...

New/old Spydie

I went to a knife and gun show this past weekend and found lots of Spydercos to drool over. Got to see the Persian and the Chinook II and have those on my wish list. But the knife I wound up getting was a NIB Wayne Goddard Lightweight PE C16BK. Those have been discontinued for some time but I've alw...

Sam,

Looks like you've got a great kit. I was wondering what kind of journalist you are and how do you mostly use your neat little Sony Mini DV Camcorder?
