Re: Which model has impacted your preferences the most?

Great knife to pick. I'm glad to hear you're safe, very sorry to see what you and your people are going through. I woke at 5 +/- AM feb 24 from far explositions and heard winged rocket flown just over my house followed by SAM intercept rockets (two supersonic booms) followed by mid air explosions. ...

Re: What stainless is most similar to k390?

I think Cruwear is fairly corrosion resistant, but not considered stainless. I assume Cruwear as "stainless enough", but not for salt water and/or sweat resistant. I have the same average experience with Cruwear as described here: https://forum.spyderco.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=79516

Re: What stainless is most similar to k390?

According to Outpost 76 findings the closest (and outperforming in fine edge cutting test) to K390 stainless is Cruwear. According to my experience Cruwear may be considered as a stainless even being uncoated, while I prefer Ceracoat-ed from papillion-esque brand, because very little to none scratch...

Re: So what's your top 3 favorite steels? and why?

1. CTS B70P on mule team blade. Stainless, shiny - easy to polish, aggressive cutter - my main desk knife for everything. The steel prone to plastic deformation which I like. 2. Elmax on 0801- easy to sharpen, holds keen/aggressive edge for long time 3. CPM REX45 on Para3 - best heavy duty edge for ...

Re: 3V or 4V Steel in a folder.

> How's the stain/corrosion resistance? Having past year 3V in Boker Solo I may say it a) has better corrosion resistance than M4 b) has no signs of patina after cutting onions and tomatos c) once sharpened stays shaving sharp d) being sharpened to 12 dp, hollow ground and 0,4mm BTE (reminds me GB1)...

Re: Where's the 3V?

> 3V won't offer anything over M4 in a folder. Easy: corrosion resistance. I have both steels in folders: GB1 and Boker Solo hollow ground CPM 3V (looks like thumbstud version of Lum chinese folder hollow ground instead of FFG). And corrosion resistance of Boker 3V is awesome: slight discoloration a...

Re: CPM S110V -- How long will it hold edge at narrow angle?

I've not seen visible chipping on either, but they lose their hair shaving sharpness quickly with light use EDC. Low sharpness working edges lasts a long time, but to be honest I have not been blown away by their edge holding. I like S90V and M390 more. I have exactly the same observations. S90V on...

Re: Spyderco C81GPGY2 Paramilitary 2 CRU-WEAR

Having regrinded para2 I must admit Sal & Eric professionalism in understanding the knife as a completed system. Regrinded Para2 cuts well, but it is not Para2 anymore: it lack it toughness feeling after regrind. Besides that, cuts well. Here's mine: http://i.imgur.com/F6Q62p5.jpg Mine cru-wear ...
