I may say the same about S35VN and Elmax - very close to the simple carbon steels from the start (initial BESS) and hard to distinguish in A/B test.

Re: Micro-Melt PD#1 Burgundy Sprint Run Spydies In Stk
Love Seki's TiCN.
This is my goto EDC - 20CV Endela TiCN'ed and polished by white Dialux.
The coating gets reflective and oil-like smoothness and slippery.
The same for TiCN'ed PD#1 and Cruwear Endelas I have.
After polish the blade is like painted with highly glossy deep gray paint.

Re: Is Maxamet from Taiwan "better" than from USA?
Nobody ever wants to talk about what they were doing when catastrophic failure happens, it's always the brand/knife/steel/heat treat's fault.
My wife recently broke the blade on one of our Z Cuts. I asked what she was doing....splitting frozen steaks. Maybe I should make a thread and ask ...

Re: Why CPM 3V
I have Anso’s Boker Solo saber, hollow-ground 3V folder (Solingen HT 62–63 HRC, sprint run years ago). Thin BTE, aggressive cut, fantastic handle <- this defines the knife performance. The blade performance reminds me GB1 (which has thinner stock and I like that more, but corrosion...). Would love ...

Re: How do I stop rusting on my carbon steels?
Spyderco’s 20CV/M390 models are almost rust-proof, and the Seki models are among the thinnest behind-the-edge.

Re: S110V / S90V difference
S110V Native5 was my main swimming/freedive knife in Mediterranean with zero corrosion. While S30V/S90V corroded just from being carried: From an air-conditioned area into the warm, humid outside air → moisture in the air condenses on the metal surface → corrosion begins to form on the surface.

Re: Seki City back lock quality in 2022?
Would you consider the SOG to be a higher quality knife?
I have no SOG in possession, but some CS AD-10s - my primary hiking tool amongst ARS folding saw. And this topic is reality: all Seki made backlocks in my possession has vertical blade play while open. I don't care is it lock design or ...

Re: The Pain of Parting with Knives
I don't have many rules, but, top three:
1) Never eat anything bigger than my head.
2) Never sell a bass guitar.
3) Never sell a Spyderco knife.
After parting (lost in snowy winter night) with GB1 I set the same (3) for me, regretting selling:
Millie in CTS-XHP, Para 2 in 20CP, brown Matriarch ...

Re: DLC K390?
Both matte DLC and TiCN coatings are polishing well. My main user is Endela 20CV TiCN coated w/ then polished coating. It's lookalike Cold Steel previous generation DLC - less traction than original coating and almost no scratches.
What process and products do you use to polish TiCN/DLC ...

Re: DLC K390?
I'm not a fan of the matte texture of spydercos DLC. I would LOVE to see k390 with the TICN coating used on the rex 45 smock though.

Victorinox Weekender (serrated Spartan), which is my goto in the bag for decade+ or Victorinox Cheese hardwood front serrated (best for picknicks, locked main blade). They both will not patinaed from sauces and wet wiped with ease. Or, Ladybug full SE for steaks. Short blade though, not scary.
