product idea: Spyderco folding wood saw

I know the regular spyderco serration can cut wood, but they don't do it as quite or as well as actual wood saw teeth (I've tried). A lot of hunters love high end products and use saws (trimming branches and cutting deer bones, etc) and want quality, light folding saws. A Spyderco Endura or Police w...

Re: best locking mechanism for deer hunting folder?

Thanks for the replies. I would like to see Spyderco come up with a new locking mechanism just for folding hunting knives. It would have 1 locking mechanism with a "safety" that locks that locking mechanism in place. Other makers have these types of locks, and I always considered them over...

Sales dictate these things... I think if it is popular it gets more options, not vice versa. That said orange makes sense as this is a knife that would appeal to hunters.
I think it is a chicken-egg thing.

why so few Stretch 2 color variations?

The Stretch has a big following. One reason why Delicas, for instance, might sell more (other than lower price) is there are so many color variations other than black. If they offered the Stretch in like 5 more colors tomorrow, they'd sell a bunch. The Stretch is my main hunting knife, and I don't l...

Para 2 bolts/spacers?

I lost the bolt and spacer closest to the lanyard hole on my Para 3. I know spyderco won't ship and you have to send knife in.

I find this overkill for a bolt/screw.

Anyone selling these parts?

Thanks - R

best locking mechanism for deer hunting folder?

Hi, I haven't logged in in years. Glad everyone is still here. I got out of collecting for a while. I prefer a folding knife due to weight and space savings. When I hunt elevated (from a tree saddle, if you've heard of such a thing) I have something around my waist that squeezes me (so I can't have ...

Same reason a black, military looking gun is more likely to be banned than the same exact gun but with a hunting profile and wood stock......people are emotional and most of them don't know what they are talking about. A really dumb law is the outlaw of balisongs. It is based totally upon them looki...

I would consider carrying a switch without a safety to be, well, unsafe. Given how easily and quickly a knife like say the Manix 2 can be opened without first remembering and then executing a safety button, I feel that a well made one hand opener is faster to deploy. Add to that other advantages, su...

I haven't handled the caly 3.5. If you want to avoid legal issues, a rescue is great at slashing. My undercover SD is a salt 1 with serrated blade that is less than 3". It came yellow, which is benign, and I dyed it to a deep green. It is serrated, which is "scary", but can be had in ...

What? You don't have a manbug tied off in a balloon and then swallowed? That's deep carry.

I think it is an interesting time to reflect upon spyderco's efforts to make a blade to be used to cut whales free from nets. Spyderco rocks from a moral standpoint. It is rare to support a company which does more good than any harm.

I like a small knife on the keys because I'll always have at least one knife on me. Also, a small knife on keys is easier to lose by having it slip out of your pocket.

I'm thinking a cool key knife might open like a box cutter (push out and then locks) and have a thick blade. I'd buy one. I'd get a pen too if it were $50 or less. When I see tactical pens over $100, I just think about all knives I'd like that cost around that.

Titanium frame, single carbon fiber or g10 scale on clip side Cricket XL (same proportions but enlarged around X 1.5). Any blade steel equal to greater than vg10/154cm/s30v would be fine.

Tangent: If you can't already, start practicing using chop sticks so you can use them well. You can eat very quickly with them once you've mastered it. You'll have utensils anywhere so long as tree branches/saplings are available and you have a knife.

Hey everyone, new soon-to-be Spyderco owner here having a bit of trouble making up my mind. I'm split between the Manix 2, the lightweight Manix 2 and the Super Leaf. I'm not going to EDC it, but use it more for when I'm outdoors - hiking/camping, fishing, etc. I'm trying to keep my budget under $1...

Hmm....tactical pens that cost $50 and up. I'm pretty sure a $5 metal pen from walmart will be useful if you need to stab a zombie in the neck and you are away from all other implements.
