Re: Any interest in the return of integral comp locks?

I’d be super interested in seeing the return. I’ve submitted a half dozen designs/prototype models that feature an integral compression lock with a lock tab insert (including an Ikuchi)... they always get implemented as liner-based compression locks when put into production. As a designer, it would ...

If somebody ever does do a sprint-run Ikuchi, I’m hoping they consider something a little more like what you’ve both created than a simple steel and color change - though I’d take that, t...

Do we know that the Ikuchi showing up have these new CQI changes?
Stock at the larger dealers should all be the CQI version at this date.

I have a few CQI Ikuchis inbound from Spyderco, and will post some impressions on improvements once I get a chance to fiddle with them.

Re: Ikuchi

I got confirmation of CQI changes a little bit ago: a bushing pivot system and a more recessed tip.

Hope that helps folks with their decisions,

Really Spyderco ?! I'm a wreck... the suspense is killing me  I only hope it's as good as the CQI Kapara... that one is a jewel :spyder: I’m looking forward to it, too. Can’t really discuss/confirm any specifics, and I have no idea when they will be available; but when Eric described the modif...

Re: Stop Lock

So...bias to close or not? A pertinent question. Someone answer, please. Howdy all, the stop lock on the Parata DOES HAVE a closing bias due to the lock lever spring tension pushing on the blade tang. The bias is always there unless you manually move the lock lever away from contact with the tang. ...

Wow D, that’s just awesome... It looks like a full-custom piece with the contouring you’ve done, very nice work. Sorry for not weighing in sooner, life’s been crazy hectic this last month, but wanted to post here even if it is a little late because of the effort David’s put into this piece. I love t...

Re: Parata Finally

Howdy everyone, sorry to have been absent from the discussion on the Parata for so long, works been super busy lately so my time to engage in the forum has been a little limited. But, I have had a good amount of time with the Parata, and have gotten to really appreciate the work the Japanese manufac...

I dont know if I'm the only one wondering or not.. does the original there in the pictures have pure white scales? If so - can we get a picture? I’ll try and get more pics later when I have some time (it is Mother’s Day), but I got the white scales off the bay. Just search for “Spyderco Sliverax Sc...

Re: Thanks a lot Dan. Sliverax

On a side note, I just ordered a few more of these from the SFO, and there has been some CQI! The caged bearings are no longer exposed on the tang-side of the blade. Taichung must have reduced the cage diameter a bit. Not sure there’s much performance benefit, but I imagine it will help keep the be...

Thanks again Dan, Sal and the guy who designed the knife who’s name I can’t recall. Paul? Howdy Harley, Glad you’re liking the knife. I prefer a bit of a stronger detent myself, and modify my Sliveraxes by tweaking the detent hole in the blade a bit (not a difficult mod, but it requires disassembly...

Re: About that Smock blade cutout thingy..

Gonna have to second this one, that “integral gut-hook” would be awesome (though maybe not too practical).

If I had the skills, I’d do something similar to an extra/old Ouroboros I have... don’t think I’d risk it on a new Smock.

Cool idea, D,

Re: LC200N Ikuchi Salt - The folding steak knife I have been dreaming of!

The Ikuchi does make for a nice little steak knife, I’ve used it a couple times at dinner. Even Eric mentioned at Shot Show that he would probably try it in that role once they were released. So who knows, maybe he’s thinking the same thing as the OP. It would also be awesome and appropriate to have...

That’ll do.

Just be sure to always use in moderation... you don’t want resin gumming up the Ikuchi’s pivot.

Re: Who else is getting an Ikuchi as soon as they are released?

I'll have to sand some from the choil where it rests against the stop pin; it's very easy for me to cut the pad of my finger/thumb with that laser-like tip. There is a lot of separation between the knife edge and the standoffs so I don't see any reason the blade can't sit deeper within the scales. ...

Double check this, but I believe the cutout in the liners that contact the pin in the blade control travel. There should be a small gap in the choil-lock stop area.
