Re: Just ordered some Nano Oil *cough snake oil cough*

Nano-Oil,,, I have a small bottle with applicator needle,,,, must be 3-4 years old. Using it on my extensive Spyderco collection, new knife arrives,,, apply to all contact rubbing surfaces, pivot and light coating on blade surfaces then into storage. Users get monthly application. Not yet at 1/2 mar...

Re: Advice on delica/endura maintenance

I like to use liquid Dawn with an old toothbrush and wooden toothpick to remove any dried out gunk.
Hot water and Dawn mix, cold water rinse and hair dryer.
A few drops of Nano-Oil and ready to go smooth as new.

Re: Idea for times of lockdown and/or reduced activity: Use your Spydies for food-prep!

I much prefer the dedicated Spyderco kitchen knives.
Very thin blade stock with MBS-26 steel SE of course.
The older straight blade 10.3" is fantastic as a bread knife.

Re: lockstick - my thoughts and your facts or theories

Years ago, I owned 9-10 CRK Sebenza knives,, 2 had lock stick. Applied the CRK grease and eliminated any stick.
CRK does harden the titanium lock face with heat which helps greatly.

Now have 100% Spyderco, only one PM2 early issue has slight stuck.

Re: Uncomfortably sharp Spydie hole

Deburr the sharp edge on hole,,, on one of my very early Delica 4 knives, I over did the chamfer,,,, agree that it is very easy to make it more difficult to get a nice purchase on the hole for opening. I keep the knife on my desk as a reminder not to mess up any more in my collection.

Re: ZDP for EDC questions

Sharpening ZDP-189,,, I have a set of DMT diamond stones in 6 inch size. Well worn Coarse, Medium and Ex Fine, then polish on Spyderco Ex Fine bench stone. Total time about 10 min, very quick and easy. Have carried EDC a Delica in ZDP-189 for years, mainly in shirt pocket in winter, jeans in summer....

Re: OK, it's time to get serious

Agree, +1 on the Rescue models in ATS-55.
If one does not lIke SE,,, coarse dIamond or belt grinder will remove them for a PE.

Actually any of the VG-10 models will also be excellent.

Some Endura blades gave been shortened to sheepsfoot type shapes.

Re: Is DPS 15 Damascus "Real" Damascus??

I believe the Endura Damascus is made with a center core of VG10 with two layers of additional laminated Damascus on either side. This is done in a cold rolling mill process called cladding. The last process after blade grinding, is to acid etch which will emphasize the different layers of steel all...

Re: KC Exclusive Shaman Rosewood REX 45

That photo is not rosewood,, it is a mystery softwood dyed and impregnated into laminated form. Nothing wrong as a knife handle, just not as advertised. I would also guess it is not stabilized as in exotic woods for handles, only glued up into plywood. Real rosewood is very oily and does not glue up...

Re: Opinions on the combo edge

I tried the CE years ago, it does not work for me. The SE portion is too short and it takes away from the PE portion close to the pivot. I carry two Spyderco knives, both a FFG blade, one CE and one PE are my preferred arrangement.

Re: Your Thoughts of an Ideal Companion Blade?

For many years mine was a Delica in ZDP-189,, I have been considering another design with FFG SE in the future.
The Delica is very comfortable in upper front shirt pocket.
