Re: Need help in checking the authenticity of bird robin

Millingmachine862... I know its reply to older post but anyway, "Hi" anyway...I have several Byrd knives similar to this one. They are 1st generation Byrds; the ones with stainless steel handles all have the three small holes (reverse of the Byrd logo hole on the blade). Take care!

Re: Where is my Bow River ?

+2 Deacon et al; got in on the pre-order ages ago . . . plus, I can make my own sheaths as well. Send us our knives and we'll wait for sheath! Mike

ladies for Spyderco's?

So I've been slowly converting my wife to guns and knives. She's good with the guns and coming around on carrying and using a knife. Unfortunately she's a teacher and can't carry to school. But she puts a knife in her pocket when she gets home. I started her off on a Ladybug (purple) and added a lan...

Tried to open a pistachio nut for my wife, sliced half of the pad parallel with the nail on my middle finger on left hand. 5 stitches. Bad thing is I play guitar - now I can't until it maybe heals. So far I can't feel anything after a month. Nerve damage? Getting better but who knows if I'll ever pl...

Lbk = ok!

Here's mine - been using it everyday at work since I found it at a gunshow in October last year. Old style Ladybug CE - cuts everything from boxes to plastic parts bags, letters and whatever someone brings me to open because they know I have always have a knife on me. I have a newer Ladybug but this...

Right Jay! My collection is sprinkled with Bryds - I buy one now and then to try out the size before spending the big sheckels in getting a "real" Spydie", and found that I like them very much. I carried an older model Finch for a couple months before I found an early CE Ladybug at a ...

knife at a gun show

OK, I'm at a gun show - same old stuff (too much $$$) so I start looking closer at the tables with the knives. One guy had a Byrd Raven (black blade) said 'I'll take $40.00 for that'. OK, next table. This guy had 1/2 dozen Spydies but not any models I was interested in at this time . . . handling th...

I am a collector of all things I really don't need - it's the thrill of the hunt maybe? I have a half dozen or more Byrds; yes they are cheep (lol) but actually the word should be inexpensive because there is nothing cheap about them. I bought a Byrd Finch and have been carrying it to work for the l...

I have trouble keeping the blade fully flat on the flat sides so I use the corners for now (still practicing). Mike

Ladybug EDC'n

A couple months ago I picked up a Byrd Finch as I have bigger hands and wanted to try out the size without paying a lot to do it. I slapped a hangman's noose lanyard on it and have carried it to work ever since. Even sliced up a lobster tail with it in Maine this summer! I just gave my wife a Ladybu...

to the rescue?

Thanks rycen, any idea of the timeframe? I knew the ClipIts with the plastic clip were earlier versions but can't find when exactly they started using the metal ones. I also haven't seen any with the same markings as this knife in a gallery somewhere showing all the Spyderco models. This is my first...

to the rescue?

I might be an idiot as I will fall for anything - was at a show today and I am ashamed to say I may have bought a ClipIt Rescue of dubious origins. According to what little I could find on the net, handle is real Spyderco but the blade markings have me wondering. It just says SPYDERCO on the front a...

I like the color combination but, I don't know, I think I'd rather see it on the non-clip side, more visible, more classy. Mike

PE or SE

Hi - we vacationed in Maine this summer and my wife is lobster obsessed. One night she used my Byrd Finch and another night my Persistence to cut the membrane on the tail. I was thinking of getting her a Ladybug (she likes purple) but was wondering if a SE regular or Salt would be better for cutting...

The Byrd Robin 2 is just a little bigger and in FRN without the clip is very thin in the pocket without the clip. Has the choil on top and bottom. I have both the RN and G-10 versions and the FRN with the recessed liners is thinner. I've handled the D'Fly and it was too small IMO but the Robin was j...
