Personally, I only take a SAK/ multitool and some kind of chopper or saw when camping/hiking. I never really needed anything more. Ya just have to take smaller bites when processing food. Lol. But what fun is that!? I would suggest either a fixed blade over 4" or maybe an Endura for that task.

an overbuilt back lock folder like the original manix or similar like the byrd cara cara g-10

if you think a military or a manix 2 would last 30 seconds being smacked through a log you are just kidding yourselves, sorry but they will break, quickly

I agree a folding knife will not be able to put ...

I would pick the para military or maybe Manix 2 from spyderco. Only because I have handled each one one time or another. Both have open back design for ease of cleaning. Both have really good steel options that keep an edge and easy to sharpen on river stone. Both have excellent locks so you don't ...

I just got mine 2 days ago in the mail! I love this system! It's so easy so to use and I'm a guy who learned on using bench oil/ water stones! Now I just pull out the sharpmaker and go to town without the mess.
In the near future I'm going to get some diamond rods for it and reprofile most of my ...

My usual edc carry is my Delica CE and my Boker subcom Titan. Some day I just carry the subcom and a SAK. It depends on my mood.
Now I'm still compilating whether or not I should pick up one of the bird knives, ambitious, or a PE cricket. (yes I know! I was supposed to get it last week, bills come ...

Thanks everyone! I'm ordering one at the end of this week! I really don't plan on using it as a primary SD knife. If I had to, it would be just enough to get away or get a slight advantage to use my DT training.
Once again guys thanks for the replies!

Gil

Thanks gunnut35! Now I can see how the size comparison is between a delica, dragonfly, and cricket. The bonus is the other ones too.

Wow thanks guys for the quick responses! Thanks jabfynger for the pick too. I beginning to really like the idea of having the cricket for an edc. Now I just need to decide whether I want a SE or PE. Mostly likely go with a PE for ease of sharpening. I wasn't going to use the cricket for a SD knife ...

Spyderco cricket

So. I was thinking about getting cricket for a edc/small last effort SD. I was wondering what people on here think about it. I know I'm probably beating a dead horse, but I would like to get a smaller knife to pair up with my delica. Maybe I might carry it more since it's a smaller knife for certain ...

Spyderco lava or equivalent of it?

I have been searching for a Lava, but it seems that it's been discontinued by spyderco. I wanted to get one for the wife as a EDC and for myself as a back up blade for my edc(delica)/last resort SD. Do you guys think there's any chance that spyderco will bring it back? Do you guys where I can find ...
