Yojimbo 2 trainer?

Any news on getting a new batch of Yojimbo 2 trainers in 2024? I have multiple guys who would buy both a live blade and a trainer if they could, but it feels like it's been years and they're getting tired of waiting. I know there are fixed-blade facsimiles available but it would be best to have a kn...

Got a chance to try one of the trainers from Stay Safe, it's as good as we're going to get until Spyderco does an official version. Obviously the handle texture is different (g-10 vs aluminum) but the dimensions and balance are spot-on. Very cool!

I'm a huge fan of Vortex optics - they're based in Wisconsin although most of their products are manufactured in either Japan or China. Your best bet to identify a Japan model is to give them a call and ask. I'd also put in a recommendation for Leupold - my wife uses a pair of Katmai 8x32 for work (...

Some more information available on their website:

They used to have online sign-up, but appear to have temporarily taken down the system.

I'm with Mikerestivo - this is my designated pineapple knife! Haven't used it much in the field - a little brush-clearing work, that's it. Very distinctive knife, I wouldn't trade mine for anything.

I would have thought that the prices would go down for non-US customers because of the recent drop in the value of the dollar? Or has the Euro been hit so hard that it's falling faster than the US dollar?

Crazy world we live in, isn't it.

Just last night I took the scales off of my new Yo2 and sanded the texture under the clip. The new G-10 is so grippy that when I tried to pull the knife out of my pocket I'd end up with a wedgie. Started off with some 600 grit just to get a feel for things, then dropped to 400 grit to get the job do...

My price limit is based more on how much I'm willing to risk if I lose the knife... because I've lost my fair share of knives in the past, and that's really no fun. Looking at the knives I carry, the absolute maximum appears to be somewhere around $150, and I prefer to stay around $100 except for &q...

It's obviously designed for the polydactyls out there! They make knives for lefties, I guess this is the natural next step.

These days, the "real" criminals are going for big targets - credit card processors, store databases with poor security, poorly secured online stores, etc. The odds are pretty slim that someone bothered to sniff your wireless traffic, decrypt it, then break and decrypt your ssl session to ...

I've removed the jimping from several of my knives - most recently my Caly 3 CF. The jimping on that one was so sharp that I was chewing up my thumb every time I used it.

The Chaparral and the Native 5 are both very nice knives, no argument there. But for the classic Spyderco experience, nothing beats an FRN Delica. Or maybe the G-10 Dragonfly if you like the feel of G-10 better. There's a reason that the Delica is one of their best-selling and longest-lived designs....

Well, it's cool if it's legit. But if it's a mistake then no hard feelings (assuming the orders are just cancelled). I had to take a chance on a zulu, always liked the design but couldn't justify it at full retail.

Unless you're a bouncer, bartender, policeman, etc, you shouldn't ever see 100 confrontations in your lifetime. Besides, talking your way out is almost always the better option. You're only justified in using your knife if you think you're in mortal danger, at which point your assailant is probably ...

Well, I'm going to chime in with the exact opposite opinion... I just bought a Caly 3 specifically because of the carbon fiber. I wanted a knife that would be smooth in my pocket instead of skinning my knuckles every time I go for my keys. I looked at the 3.5 as well, but since it wasn't carbon, I s...

Well, if it is screwed together instead of pinned we can cut a drone blade and swap it for the live blade. Then we'll need to spray paint the whole thing red so it's obviously a trainer. Black trainers make me nervous.

There's really only one way to do it. They should just be selling the seconds at the SFO as they appear. It'd be a bonus for visitors. The only way to make money off of it would be to show up every single day, and that would get pretty obvious.
