My wife had today a desire to have her own knife to EDC. I gave her the knifecenter.com website and ask her to choose a model she likes. The one of choice was Byrd Meadowlark 2. I've ordered 2 of it, one for her, one for me, as I haven't Byrd knives yet.

Is there any comparison between Spyderco Knives and Byrd Knives? Despite the materials used in one and another, are there models that can be compared between brands?

Very attractive-looking blade there, Cesar. I'm impressed with the file-working within the handle itself. Do you plan to use it, or is it strictly for the collection?

Today I bought this custom utilitarian knife at the I International Knife Show in São Paulo, Brazil. Damascus steel blade and buffalo horn handle.

Last thought, don't use a specialty knife for SD ie Karambit, Civilian, Balisong, etc. even though it's major designs features it as a defensive tool. These type knives require instruction from qualified individuals who knows and can teach the proper techniques to those specific weapons. To get one ...

To large blades and get it sharp, believe, I use a large ceramic plate. Start using 1/4 of the bottom side of the plate placed on a table, where the ceramic is more visible and coarse, and pass all the blade on it, 20 degrees inclination, each side, 20 times. I bet with anyone here there if is a country where spydercos are expensive more than Brazil. To get my Manix 2 in 2010, I spent USD 85 for the knife, plus USD 40 for shipping and USD 100 of taxes, = USD 225 for a MANIX 2! If I want a Para2 the cost will be about 270 euro here, sure out about 20 days ...

I read all discussion and what I recommend to you by now is to send your Manix to a repair center and pay for the service. I think the things can become worse and you may damage even more your knife. This assembling/disassembling will stress the parts and the hole knife may become dangerous.

No evolution. Disassembled it and reassembled 3 times... mint new. No ways to get the blade play. Still researching...

Life is better with some emotions... I will now disassemble my Manix to try to reproduce your scenario and try to find a solution. Keep tracking...

Any scratch noise when open/close?
