Ronin 2: Could it work for Appendix Carry?

I have spent the better part of a year bugging all my training partners and sources about carry blades. In the end, I'm settling on a pikal style fixed blade mounted next to my pistol when I'm carrying it, and a Ronin for when firearms are not permitted by law. Ideally, since I run everything from a...

Ark fixed blade: What got added to the sheath?

I have a female friend seeking a knife for jogging and everyday carry, I went to check on the ARK to gauge how it would work under her shirt...Now I see some kind of odd tab sticking out on the sheath? What is that? A clip, a larnyard hole, something to lock the knife into the sheath?

Re: Official 2018 Catalog Discussion

As a Bowie knife practitioner who has been debating between two models from another company, I want every bit of information I can find on Sal's 'Respect' Bowie. Never would have expected to see such a classical design from Spyderco, but needless to say this is a welcome surprise!

Re: Ronin 2: Does it hold up in reverse grip?

Mr. Janich, I'm based in Chicago and you can likely guess my company. Attended your seminar last year, hope to make it out to train with you in the future. Just had an MBC sharp throw me something. They simply suggested a discontinued but on-sale Reverse...and hold it in Filipino grip. With a few pe...

Re: Ronin 2: Does it hold up in reverse grip?

My crew loves the Reverse, insane cutter and the best for that grip we've found outside of customs. The snag is, I'm looking for something that is also functional in MBC as well as daily use. A jack-of-all trades, rather than a dedicated pikal or saber grip blade.

Ronin 2: Does it hold up in reverse grip?

After mostly working in an ice-pick grip style for most of my training background, I'm getting back into MBC and gaining a new appreciation for its fundamentals and values. I'm signing on for a few months of weekly sessions training the system around the basic Delica platform, but having trained alo...

Seeking a Bowie for classical training

For the last few months, besides my main sword and stick studies, I got a few casual lessons in classical Bowie from a past student of James Keating. I got hooked. I now throw in a Bowie match with our sword sparring sessions each month, some pick-up work during the week, bought my own Laredo traine...

How do you handle the casual 'check out my knives!' folk?

I don't mean the instagram collectors, I don't mean forum posters, I don't mean the guy at the class or job site who wants to show off his new Military. I mean the friend of a friend who hears you collect or train, your friend's teenage son, your brother in law, etc. And they show you the best of wh...

Re: Shortening the blade of a Yojimbo or Ronin?

I agree a Ronin would be the better long-term investment. More handle, less blade would be even better. But how to tone down the length without losing the point geometry...Are there any well-known people who have done this?

Shortening the blade of a Yojimbo or Ronin?

After several years of being a forum poser, I finally attended an MBC seminar this summer and truly got my feet wet in the dynamics of cutting and flow drills. I have forced myself trying to inertia opening because it wastes entire weekends and kills my elbow, but everything changed the way I even l...

Seeking small fixed blade for appendix carry

Through my late teenage years and college, I was a fixed blade nut. I still have a drawer of various neck knives I carried in various manners. However, wisdom and common sense eventually kicked in. As I started working in the nonprofit sector and was spending more time in suits and gala tuxedos than...

Re: Poor man's gentleman's knife?

My parameters:

Sub-$100, around Delica pricing or less.
Locking blade.
On the smaller side, this is purely a utilitarian piece for formal events which doesn't have to be over the top tactical strength.
Looks 'finer' without plastic ridges all over.

Well then it seems to me you already have your max budget in the Delica?
That hits the nail on the head.

Poor man's gentleman's knife?

After a long stint in college and grad school, I'm finally working in the nonprofit field which has a heavy fundraising element. Thus, I now own both black tie and white tie tuxedos as galas and banquets are simply par for the course. However, my pink Delica doesn't quite fit the bill when I'm weari...

Change of pace in life, have to upgrade EDC habits.

Very recently, my life has taken some major turns and my lifestyle has had to change considerably. For the last few years I've been a blue collar college student working his way through school, every day I wore jeans and layered jackets that whatever gear I needed. Never without my Chrome satchel wh...

Are you curious about the Compression Lock? Are you looking for the sprint run? Do you have input on its use and carry? Did you see one in a ...
