Re: Manix XL

In general, shock loading of any lock adds too many variables to be reliable, and "batoning" with a folder is considered abuse. (If you must do it, do it unlocked, to minimize damage)

I'm sure your right, I just thought it would have been able to handle iit better. Never had any kind of lock fail ...

Manix XL

On a holiday camping trip, trying to strip tender from firewood using my Mannix XL by hammering it down through some damp firewood. I was very surprised, when the lock failed several times allowing the blade to close. I was tapping the blade with another piece of firewood and was able to make the ...

It's not very difficult to find items. No need to post links.
Agreed
Not trying to be "crass"
I always thought searching was half the fun

It's hard to be impressed by any of these "deals", 10 second search on eBay and most can be beat with shipping included.
Got the email from poor fish this morning; like you said a few good deals.

Yeah, about that. Mine has yet to ship, with a "shipping soon" status.
I'm wondering if this is going to turn into a disappointment? I'll give it another day or so and email the company. they do have a good rating on amazon

Yeah, saw them on Amazon, went ahead and ordered one for $100. I'll just hide it in the back of the safe for a year or so and see what I can get for it. It's one of the few spydies that I never really liked for myself.

Spyderco Adventura

Any thoughts if this oddity may be worth something in the future? Someone on eBay has one listed for $265, or some crazy amount close to that. Seems a bit premature, they can still be found online.

I have been carrying the large Citadel EDC, at work, for about 3weeks now. It's a brick of a knife, but fits perfect clipped into the plate pouch of my vest.
I hope to add the embassy to my collection one day soon, but I'm on a break from knife buying for a while.

If anyone talks to this guy sure would like to know his story. I'm about a hour away from Katy, but can can tie up that much cash on knives, I'd get killed. The collection itself seems really nice. There are more than just a couple I want off of it. Could they be stolen?

Long term use wear and tear on Citadel?

Anyone have first hand experience with the Citadel, mostly concerned with the black finish on the handle. It will be a EDC work knife, any issues with the finish scratching or wearing poorly when carried?
About to pull the trigger on one this month, just thinking. :o

That was a great deal! I manage to get 2 orange Military Spydies from sirrea trading post, with one of the many random email coupons I get, for $99 each.
The hardest part was making the choice to put them away in the collection, they are on the discontinued list for 2011 :(

Sharpmaker newbie here, I just got one last week, and it has been a learning experience. I can say it's not as easy as the DVD would have you believe. However, if it's a Spyderco with a decent factory edge left on it the SM will bring it back to life with little trouble.
The sharpie trick did help ...

Poorfish is great I just got a orange assist rescue on eBay from them, then I found their site and ordered a sharpmaker and Tenacious. They are hard to beat on eBay, they have several endure 4 models for around $48.00, buy it now, with free shipping.
