I like SS handles but for yard work I would agree with everyone above that recommended FRN. Salt versions (have used a serrated Tasman for years) are better then non-Salt.
That being said I have used an old CE Millie for years, an absolute fantastic yard/work knife.

Para2 SE and Para3 CE
Just wanted to give a big shout out to Spyderco for offering these platforms with teeth. Just got mine in the mail. The Para 2 in SE has been something I have waited for for a very long time. it does not disappoint, the platform is excellent as we all know and the small PE section is perfectly funct...

Re: Police4 in spyderedge ?
Yes please. The police deserves serrations and I am really liking K390. My mule has been a fantastic performer in the yard and kitchen and relatively easy to reprofile. That was an unexpected surprise. K390 in the urban hasn't left my pocket since I got it. It cuts effortlessly and in that platform ...

Re: Those darn serrations
You are exactly right about snagging less while remaining just as sharp. I haven't seen any real drop off in performance with slightly rounded tips. The delica and endura seemed to have the more rounded points and shallower scallops from the factory. When sharp I haven't had an issue with the food m...

Re: Those darn serrations
I have always been a fan of serrations but agree to each his own. Yard work I don't do without my CE Millie. Trimming branches, cutting cord (trimmer cord) zip ties, opening bags of all kinds, cutting pots off plants. etc As for sharpening I just run it down the corners of the sharpmaker 5 times dra...

Re: Military selects Sig 320
the modularity doesn't mean anything to me I really wonder if anyone will truly care. It seems more suited to the military than civilians, unless you're really going to buy two different sized frames and swap them around for different situations. I would just buy the frame that fit my hand and carr...

Re: Military selects Sig 320
I am a big fan of the 92A1 but admittedly I am only taking about punching paper. That being said I have shot the Sig320 and thought it was a fantastic polymer gun, the modularity doesn't mean anything to me but it was comfortable and had a decent trigger. For the money (the sig is cheaper than equiv...

Re: PARA 2 and MILITARY models prohibited in Canada
Neither the PM2 nor the Military are prohibited in Canada. This thread is misleading. Unfortunately the OP was victim to an overzealous border guard. Our laws here in Canada haven't changed. You are right our laws have not changed and based on those laws the PM2 and Military should not be prohibite...

Re: PARA 2 and MILITARY models prohibited in Canada
I think Sal has hit it on the head, without clear laws the public is left to the mercy of interpretation. How does the common person fight this, take days off work, hire experts and a lawyer. The model names are inflamatory to some but our laws are very clear, If i use one of those soft pool noodles...

Re: PARA 2 and MILITARY models prohibited in Canada
You might get lucky Whitetail, they let slip that it was the monetary value of the package (Para and Millie) that flagged it for review. I won't be ordering anything out of the US for some time. One knife might slip through. I would even let them destroy them but they are unwilling not provide evide...

Re: PARA 2 and MILITARY models prohibited in Canada
There is an appeal process but it is judged internally and it would appear that from the top down the decision has been made that the law as written is not accurate. My discussion with the CBSA indicated that there will be upcoming legislation to amend the criminal code but this is not in place. I d...

PARA 2 and MILITARY models prohibited in Canada
I just received my formal notice from the Canada Border Services Agency that these two models are prohibited in Canada as defined in Subsection 84(1) of the Criminal Code. They have been classified as Centrifugal Opening Blades based on the wrist flick test. It should be noted that a wrist flick is ...

Re: Full serration or combo grind?
I am a fan of CE knives as they fit my needs depending on the situation(as Gringo put it above), I have used a CE Millie in the yard for years and it is perfect for everything I use it for. I also used a CE Delica exclusively while building a 900 sq foot stone patio at my old house. Just to see if i...

Re: Spyderco Military CPM 440V 1996
These old millies have thicker blade stock which combined with the full SE make it a beast. Some people prefer that over slicing ability. To each his own.
