With a 3mm blade of that length, I see the Manix XL as more of a slicer, so s90v/CF with skeletonized liners would be nice.

Now, if Spyderco would produce a beefier one from 4mm stock, then I'd go for something like 3V.

I passed on the regular Manix XL cos I prefer my original Manix with the 4mm blade. Would definitely get a s90v/cf version with skeletonized liners, though.

This will be a great blade for the price. But if the blade stock is really only 3mm, I'm not sure this will replace my original Manix. Still waiting for a Spyderco folder with a 4" cutting edge, FFG leaf blade, robust point and good steel from 4" stock (sorry, Resilience!).

Nooooooo! Slim and trim! That's what's so attractive to me about this model, it's almost skeletonized, with lots of blade. The handle on a Street Bowie is not exactly massive - slim with lots of blade to handle is exactly what i'm after as long as there's enough for a solid, comfy grip and the bala...

#$&^ it! I just spent half an hour writing out a detailed account of my thoughts on the Junior, and when I hit "post" found the system had logged me out, and after logging back in, all the text was gone. The short and more direct version of what I wrote is:- I liked the design an...

pls. dont kill the edge length with the finger choil again. I quite like a choil, on a longer blade for more control over fine work. But: 1) For me, cutting edge length is more important that total blade length. Spyderco has plenty of folders with around 4" total blade length, but off the top ...

The Resilience has most of the ingredients I want in a large folder: G-10, FFG, great blade shape, relatively light weight, relatively slim, and easy to carry. Upgraded blade steel is the main thing I want. I can live with the liner lock, but a compression, or possibly bolt action, lock would be gr...

Glad some other people have mentioned the idea of a heavier duty Resilience with premium steel. I was waiting on a new version of the large manix, but having now got the Resilience, I think a beefy folder based on that would be even better. Can anyone out there also see the Resilience+ with a flippe...

Sal started a related thread on interest in large Spyderco folders, so if anyone does want to chip in on this, I would recommend also posting in the other thread, where it is more likely to be read by those who can do something about it.

"Why should Spyderco make or not make very large folders?" To respond to Sal's question more directly, I see monster folders as mainly novelty items as handles much over 5" become a waste of materials and don't offer any additional carry convenience over a compact fixed blade. So, I'm...

Great minds think alike . . .

I just posted on a similar topic. Not looking for a novelty monster folder, but I think it would be great to have a robust leaf blade folder in the region of 3.5-4" cutting edge (not overall blade length). Was suggesting in the thread below that it could possibly be done by updating the origina...

Heavy duty leaf blade - when please??

I would really like Spyderco to bring out a heavy duty leaf blade - at least 3.5" of cutting edge, FFG out of 4mm thick stock with a reasonably robust point. Spyderco have produced some great FFG leaf blades out of 4mm stock, going back to the Lil Temperance, but they tend to be a little short ...
