Re: Regarding an appropriate Magnacut model:

Since the Para 2 is still my favorite and most carried Spyderco, and seems to be a good platform for many steels, this would be my vote. Mike

I may be late to the poll, here, but I’d definitely be in for two. I live in the US. Mike

Re: Trip to Spain

We visited Spain last year. I found a long time family owned knife company named Pallares in the city of Solsona. They make many different knives with many being of traditional local design. Many are simple slip joint design. Very friendly people. They spoke mostly Spanish and French. Luckily, the b...

My Sustain arrived a few hours back... :) http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z369/EllieBelly57/IMG_2138_zpshf8focpq.jpg Mine also. Very happy with it. Light, clean design and grinds, well balanced, great materials, comfortable in hand, sharp, and not a pry bar! Mike. (Not so hot picture provided a...

Re: Amsterdam Meet 2015 report of upcoming Spyderco prototypes

The Ion is a must have! The Southard Folder just didn't catch my interest, frame locks and a single scale on one side just aren't for me. I wanted a flipper but all the Spydies were smooth on one side, which puzzles me to no end. I want texture all the way around. Symmetry is a big deal for me too,...

Re: Tamahagane Spyderco!

Isnt Hitachi white simply are more refined version of the tamahagane recipe? In regards to base materials properties - they are both simple high carbon steels. Hitachi White is a modern ultra-pure version. I would ask this question - if someone like Ed Fowler offered a run of his triple quenched / ...

Re: Do you keep the boxes? Poll

Yes, only because if I do sell a knife, many buyers prefer to have the box. And, I suppose it helps justify a slightly better price, especially if the knife is in excellent condition. Otherwise, it's kind of a pain to keep them all (I've been a knife addict for a long time). Mike

Re: Thoughts on Ankerson's cut testing results

It's tough to turn these test results into useable information. I think this can be an issue, but I also think that it also depends on what one's "relationship" with knives is - if I may state it that way. Personally, my "relationship" with knives runs all over the place. I've p...

Re: CPM 10V - What would the next Model be?

I would have voted for all of them just because I like them all. I was sorely tempted to vote for the Military and Para Military but went with the Native 5 and "Other" because my completely unscientific, emotional, gut feeling, without real world testing, and with a bit of late night readi...

I'm curious also. But just purely from a point of personal interest. I received my Slysz Bowie yesterday and really like it. Just a clean, well designed, well built, somewhat compact knife that opens easily and smoothly and fits my hand well. I won't post a picture because it takes me forever and I'...

Re: Edge retention on carpet : cKc-X, O1, S30V, k390

Cliff, thank heavens you're "sensible" enough to see the "value" in used carpet and perform these tests. My only concern would be in not getting too carried away with something like Free Bird and trimming fingers along with carpet. So if I understand this correctly, your results ...
