My first was a plain-vanilla Delica 4, acquired back in 2008. The addiction (and collection) has developed considerably since then.

My vote is for a ZDP Dragonfly. It has an extremely sharp, thin blade (~2mm I think), is large enough to be easy to handle and usable, yet small enough to be carried ubiquitously.

I generally rotate between a pure vanilla Delica 4 (saber grind PE, satin finish, VG-10, black FRN handle) and a Stretch 2 FRN (VG-10, plain edge) for daily carry. Additionally, I always have my Victorinox Cadet for smaller tasks and use around knife-unfriendly folks; I guess that constitutes my &qu...

While doing on-site tech support, I needed to remove some stuck-on gaffers tape holding a bundle of computer cables flat against a desk. I pulled out my (freshly sharpened) Stretch and started splitting the gaffers tape apart. I was stupidly cutting toward me, with my left hand below the blade, supp...

I've owned all three, and I haven't noticed an appreciable difference in performance between steel-lined and not. I guess it's a little more peace of mind, but for the tasks I do with my knives, it doesn't really matter. I'd also agree that at least with the Spydies I've handled, pinned construction...

I usually buy another while a few of my Spydies are up in Golden getting professionally sharpened. They're not here, so why not? :)

Even if Cutlery Shoppe hiked their prices a bit, he needs to put food on the table (like everyone else). Echoing a lot of other folks earlier, his service is absolutely top-notch. Case in point: I ordered a Leatherman Fuse w/nylon sheath from CS awhile back, and they called me because they were sold...

The Stretch is fast becoming my favorite daily carry blade, and I have only noticed vertical play after applying significant downward pressure while cutting into something grabby (a block of cheese). As I understand it, that kind of play is inherent to the lockback design, so if you're talking about...

Thanks for all the replies! I picked up some Brasso metal polish last night (closest thing I could find, bottle said it works on stainless), and the discoloration came right off. My Sage is gorgeous once again!

All the knives in my collection are users, so I try to bear in mind an actual purpose for the knife in my uses and how different the knife is from others already in my collection (I won't own FFG Delicas in every color, I prefer some variety). I also have some ironclad rules: No combo edges, must be...

Removing tarnish from S30V?

My Sage1 has developed some brown-ish discoloration on the blade, which appears to be some kind of tarnish/stain (I'll post a picture during my lunch break today). I've used the knife to break down a bunch of cardboard boxes and dice an onion (which I'm thinking is the culprit). I've tried washing t...

I'm not a "collector's collector", but I can speak to EDC use. The Delicas and Enduras in all their variations are pretty much canonical for everyday use Spydies, and I can't rave enough about my Sage1. If you prefer more hefty-feeling blades, check out the Stretch. It might be dimensional...

I personally prefer hollow-ground blades (check out the Centofante3) for slicing through thinner media, and full flat-ground blades (like the Delica4/Endura4 FFG) for thicker stuff.

IMO, any product with tight tolerances that is mass-produced will have inconsistencies. Spyderco is among the best I've seen among production knife manufacturers in terms of overall build quality, edge geometry (not just factory sharpness, but how well the edge wears and re-sharpens over time withou...

I have a Rescue 79mm in my carry rotation, and that monster just devours cardboard and plastic packaging. It took me awhile to get into serrations, but it's good to have that option available, should you need it. I've been toying with the idea of getting a Dragonfly Salt SE to carry perpetually, alo...

I'll jump onto the "me too" bandwagon, as I also received my Sage 1 from CS this morning. Absolutely no F&F issues, the blade came wicked-sharp, and it fits even my smallish hands well. Definitely a keeper, and I can see why so many folks on the forums love the Sage.

I've gifted a Persistence to my stepbrother and a Dragonfly G-10 to my girlfriend (who is very supportive of my knife infatuation). Also, I own a Dragonfly2 in FRN, so we have hers-and-his pocket knives. :D

Edit: Forgot that I gave a Native to my roommate.

I too picked up one from CS. I've only owned plain edge knives prior, but I've heard people rave about how awesome the spyderedge is for daily carry, and the price was definitely right. I've yet to actually use it, but one of my knife buddies (a self-professed Benchmade fanboy) sliced his thumb clea...
