In a word: Triangulation.
Politics and religion are topics which are completely determined by external reference points, and as we calibrate our positions, we need them vetted.

We all know the most effective thieves don't use guns or welfare to rob the public anyway. The most effective thieves use the IDEAS of guns and welfare to get you to hand over your money to the person who will save one at the cost of the other.

There was enough "hatin' " in the thread ( modern definition - not "hating" in the traditional sense, more close to being snarky), on a sub$20 dollar small heavy duty locking blade that looks to be a great value and tough at what looks like 2.5 - 3mm thickness,

I'm a Spyderco fan/owner, but realize there are manufacturers that make a niche item that Spderco doesn't make or make as well, and I buy it. Visa Versa as well with Spyderco being the best or only choice for some niches.

Perhaps in the future, things may change. Are other companies shipping to the state outside of City?

As one that was born and raised in Brooklyn, (until age 15) I do have some local understanding.

I will say that the trend worldwide is in the same direction.

Hey Doc, you ever think of using an uncured ham for your testing instead? If you get one that is bone-in, it tends to be very inexpensive per-pound and you get a real bone to check your reactions against rather than trying to simulate it.

Get a big enough one and you can get a whole mess of ...

Every time you ask people to review a situation like this news item, it is so fascinating to see how the individual mind works and makes connections to their own POV or experiences.

This is all Big Time BS...yes very political, but I still can't understand Spyderco's reasons for not shipping to NYS, I can understand the NYC issue.

I know, after Sal posted his rationale, you switched, but as a NYS resident I don't agree with Spyderco's rationale to make a blanket decision for ...

u should calculate the total of all the cheaper knives you've had to purchase, multiply that x2 or 3 for future purchases and compare that to one Endura thatll last a lifetime...

There is no reason to believe that a Cara Cara won't last just as long. Inexpensive does not equal cheap. I'm giving ...

Buy a Cara Cara

MiniBear:

If you like the shape of the Endura but are price conscious, go for a Byrd Cara Cara 2: $15 for FRN, $25 for G10.
It will perform almost as good, and I think the difference is negligible. Collecting has very thick lines of demarcation as to pricing & rightfully so, but it would be tough ...

My strong hand side is Left, and my preferred carry is tip up. I'll continue to vote "no buy" on premium priced knives that don't accommodate that in this day and age of tech & materials. Caveat Emptor: I'm talking as "users" and not collector knives.

I live in NY and worked in NYC. I carry a 4.5" blade upstate and a fully concealed sub 4" fold into NYC, usually a Cara Cara 2. EDC: Thinnest + backup SD?

I need a recommendation for my off hand/public friendly EDC. I currently use a Boker Subcom as my secondary & love that thing. I'd like to have a bit more blade though and have it serve a bit more in the SD capable category. Here are some of the like-2-haves:

- About as thin as the Subcom
- 3 ...
