For me it was the handle and blade shape. The Ayoob just did not do it for me (especially at the MSRP). I am hoping for decent value for money ratio with the Szab.

I always chime in on these threads :) . I heard that they were having problems with the lock - but that they had solved the issue. I hope Sal can give some sort of ballpark on it.

This is the one knife I regret NOT purchasing from Spyderco in the last 6 months.

That should make you feel better - there are some out there that would still love to get hold of that knife.
A

There is a bit of elegance to this model that I wish I had not missed out on.

Reaching into someones pocket without their knowledge is a breach of privacy and I would sue without blinking. Heck I would sue for my backside being touched without my consent also.

Men who give up freedom for security deserve neither.

My Caracca still functions and my Navaja was first batch. You will really dig the weight of the thing, but I agree with the others that reprofiling is the way to go.

OP - sorry this has happened to you but the political restrictions on folders have been common knowledge in the cutlery community in Australia for a number of years. At best customs will offer to send your item back to its place of origin, but unless you want to take them to court (like an intrepid ...

I think the only people who actually notice that stuff are knife people. One of the posters is right - do it slow, under a table (open) and don't make a song and dance. If you are in an oldies eatery anyway most of them wouldn't be able to see if you were poking your steak with an M16.

Most of my Spyderco knives have been pretty spot on other than the Navaja (CF panels not smoothly meeting the steel bolsters) but other than that I can't complain. I would actually expect perfect fit n finish on a $100 dollar knife rather than $160. You can tell they actually care about their rep - ...

Heh sorry I had to bring this back up - anyone got a rough MSRP on the Szabo? Its probably the last Spyderco I am looking for this year. Anyone else still interested? I did a forums search and have not found anything conclusive.

I take it they fixed the lock issue also eh?

It seems the Al Mar SLB was forgotten. This knife was pretty much designed for exactly the purpose required. Dragonfly FRN also does well at the task.

Perhaps if he lives in a Grizzly area the houses normal defences should have been better. 8 foot walls - electric fencing - whatever. The Grizzly is an endangered species. Sure defend your kids - but a couple of rifle rounds in the air or a leg shot would probably have scared them off. A kill shot? ...

20CP would drive it close to or surpass the $200 mark in some countries I suspect. VG10 would work fine as any other knife. Theres nothing wrong with S30 V either. Less knives at the top end of the price spectrum will see more buyers - especially in the current global market. **** if the heat treat ...

Did they ever discover what the problem with the Carraca was? Mine still works fine but I must admit as soon as I discovered that my bolsters were unevenly milled the knife got boxed - it was scratching the inside of my hand every time I handled it.

On the flip side you may buy and maintain an unpopular production model and it can appreciate in value MUCH faster than any sprint. Especially if it gets a positive review from a big name on Youtube.
