Re: 2023 Seconds sale! ..are you going?

Not again. I got on early last time, but never made through one single purchase. The site was insanely crappy.

Edit - Never mind. Seems like people talking about on-site purchases.

Lock rock is a deal breaker for me. I hope they solve this in the upcoming LW Caly3.5. I never understood why don’t they implement the internal stop pin. It’s an easy fix…
Probably a legal issue as this creates a copy of a Tri-ad lock.

Re: Cheaper Darn Dao?

I was under the impression that once a Flash Batch is made, the model itself will never again be made again. Regardless of steel and handle material combinations, the model itself will not be repeated. You are not alone, that's why I spent that much money for one, for the uniqueness. It's the dupli...

Re: Hard Use (borderline abuse) Steel?

Spyderco S30V is a lot better than most people give it credit for. Exactly my point, but no one seems to care. Edge retention S30V > S45VN > S35VN. See the pattern here? A Beretta tactical folder in S30V I bought 15 year ago is one of the best S30V I ever had. It does show miro-chipping, probably w...

I think it's everything. Supply is down, prices are up. Supply will come back, but prices will stay up--it's the new normal.
Prices can only go as high as the market can bare. It really doesn't matter what a business hope to sell for.

Re: Elastic Ceramic. Wow!

I don't think it is surprising that ceramic out-cuts steel. I am more interested in a toughness test. How much side load it could take before breaking, and how it is compared to steels. Ceramic is known for micro-chipping, would like to see if that's the case here.

Re: Will s30v be replaced entirely in the lineup?

Better don't do it. S30V > S45VN > S35VN. It's all marketing, you gain nothing from "upgrading". It's either S30V or S90V for me.

Re: Why is there a PM2 and Para 3 shortage?

“” S45VN shows improved toughness and corrosion resistance relative to S30V along with similar edge retention. Or slightly reduced toughness relative to S35VN but with improved corrosion resistance and edge retention. It shows a better overall set of properties, I think, making S45VN a good upgrade...

Re: VG10

To many, VG10 today is not good enough for a higher end production knife to stand out in a sea of lesser knives in the same steel Have you considered that maybe there isn't a Japanese stainless steel that's a better all around steel than VG10 for a similar price? I don't know for sure but I'd guess...

Re: VG10

Why? Honda sells more cars because it is cheap not because it is better. We buy Spydercos because it is better not because it is cheap. Cheap products will always outsell quality ones no matter how crappy they are. This is why the question I was responding makes little sense. If lesser knives start...

Re: VG10

I'll ask my question again since no one answered it. What is VG-10 not able to cut that other steels can? In what way does it underperform? Well, this is a question that basically makes no sense like saying where is a place a BMW can go but a Honda can't? As we all know the fact doesn't drive BMW o...

Re: VG10

Or perhaps those knives on Amazon are not really VG-10. Lots of good stuff on Amazon. Lots of questionable Chinese garbage that isn't what it claims to be too. This is worrisome as "VG10" is stamped right in the blades, and there's no way to tell if you are getting a real deal or a knocko...

VG10

What happened to VG10 steel recently. Amazon gets flooded with cheap kitchen knives made from it. It seems suddenly fall from once "super steel" to commodity. Any thought? Should Spyderco upgrade its base steel for Seki knives to a more "exotic" offering?

Which one, the Roc, or 52100 Millie?
52100 Millie. Not as low as it is now, but it was around $170 since Oct. MSRP of the S110V Millie is cheaper than this carbon steel one, interesting.

Re: Crazy deals @ Sierra and other places

I caved and bought one. Nilakka is the one 2017 discontinued model I want to get before they're all gone. $25 amazon gift card brought the total down to $102 and at that price, I couldn't justify not getting it any longer. Good to hear positive things about it. Where did you get the gift card for f...
