We discussed making a run yesterday.

Seems like I missed some important and great news while I took a little break from the forum till quite recently...
I´ve been dreaming about and advocating for a Chap XL for more than six years now, so this naturally sounds really good to my ears ...

Re: Dyad Jr. SPY27 Release
I was thinking, how useful could this be in real life ? Did anyone put it to work ? I only wish they released the full size Dyad. I might snatch one anyway given the european dealers bring this little sucker in stock soon enough.

Re: Mike Read PITS 2 review
So, you’re saying it’s thin behind the edge ? Is that the factory edge ? My Metropolitan came with an atrocious factory edge and I had to put my own edge on. Those guys from Maniago don’t know how to sharpen a blade hellas. From your pictures it seems your edge is also quite “all over the place”.

Something like this with a linerlock and CPM154 or S90V steel.

Metropolitan. It came with an atrocious factory edge so I decided to put a fresh 17 degrees per side edge on. It’s a PITA to sharpen that M398 steel even using the diamond rods from my Wicked Edge system. Now it will cut !

Re: Byrd Self Protection Blade Question
There is also the deterrent factor ''carried'' by the serrated claws. I was once in my life caught in a possible escalating dangerous situation. All I had to do is to pull out my Civilian and place it on the table in front of me, blade opened. I knew the surroundings are not safe, to say at least ...

Hi Srivats,
Nice finds, thanx fer sharin'.
The R&D development of both of those models brings back good memories. If you think of a "design" as a "thought", a "Spirit", if you will. Then we transform that "Spirit" into a knife. A physical example of the thought.
The completion of the design ...

Re: Sal, how far behind is the hp Delica project ?
They key is ''thickness behind the edge'' IMO. You can't beat a high hollow grind at 0.015'' bte and sharpened at 10 degrees per side. That is what the hp Delica project is all about...or at least that is what I hope for and imagined. I really hope this project will go on as intended.

Sal, how far behind is the hp Delica project ?
In all honesty I started to feel that this project turned into a mirage. I really hope it’s still alive though. A high hollow grind crazy thin bte Delica might be the ultimate edc for me. Why not in SPY27 ?!

Re: Blade to Handle Efficiency?
You are right. They could have squeezed more cutting edge into the handle in most cases. Why don’t they do it … your guess is as good as mine. I only wish at least the most loved and popular Delica had a few mm of extra cutting edge not to mention the Manix or the PM2.

Re: CPM Spy27 in a Post-Crucible World
I don’t accept the idea that SPY27 will become extinct. I like this steel quite a lot. It’s a joy to sharpen and use. Maybe Sal will find a way. It’s time to purchase a Yojimbo, waiting for the Dyad jr. I dream of a cobalt blue G10 Smock.

Re: Any clip points in the works?
I dream of a folding variant of the Respect designed by Sal with a 3.5-3.75 full flat blade and just a tiny sharpening choil. Same 154CM steel and a stag or bone handle. THAT would be my dream Spyderco. Something similar to the knife used by Anthony Hopkins in the movie The Edge, designed by the ...

Re: Mantra 4 hype thread
With that 2.2 mm thin blade, Spyderco is moving in the right direction. Blades are meant to clean cut and slice not to pry. I am tired of thick blade stocks and thick behind the edge grinds. Mantra1 was an exception with a very thin bte grind and I hope that Mantra4 will be the same.
