I picked up a Spydie I have been looking to get my hands on for some time now. I got an early Spyderco Bob Lum Tanto black G10 PE blade C46PBK NIB. Kinda been my grail knife and with the release of the sprint run I have seen a few more than normal floating around.

First to clear up the status of the black bladed Para2, it is not now nor has it ever been "pulled" from the line up. It is live on our site right now and has been. There may have been a time when it was unavailable but that is only due to it being back ordered.

I have the same problem with my Paramilitary 2. I need to send it in, but after speaking with Spyderco I have a feeling that it is "with in" spec.

Personally I am very dissapointed in the DLC coating on the Para 2, it isn't the nice balck flat blade coating on every other black blade Spydie I have ...

The blade on the Para 2 is a grey color that is slightly reflective. Not a big deal unless you wanted a flat black, which the Para 2 was not.

I called Spyderco shortly after I got mone and they said it should be the same as the Military and told me to send it in. Haven't gotten around to sending it ...

I want one to EDC for some reaosn. I love big blades and this one diffentely has my attention.

Spyderco says the coating should be the same as the other knifes, which is what I wanted and expected. Hopefully they can take care of it.

I just hope taking care of it doesn't involve a long wait for more to be produced. I love everything else about the knife.

Spoke with Spyderco warranty. They advised that there should be no difference in blade coatings on this knife from the other Spydercos that I own.

I guess I am sending it in for them to look at.

Not uncommon for black anything to have a tint of something else. On gun forums you see guys mention (or down right cry) about their AR15 having a purple tint.

I believe all Spyderco's black blades are DLC. I know the my Military, Para 1 and Citadel are DLC. The Para 2 DLC coating is different.

I didn't use a flash they are just sitting on the kitchen counter. The Para 2 just catches a lot more light. Which kinda goes againt the point of a black blade.

I washed it when I first got it. The blade isn't black it's more grey than anything, and reflects a lot more light than my other black blade Spyderco's.

Almost like the coating is to thin, like it's almost translucent.

See i might be a little on the paranoid side, but i even went so far as to nip the 1/8 inch off the tip of my Para just to make it dead on 3 inches because it was 3 1/8. The last thing i want is to have it taken away because some cop is having a bad day.
