Hello Samo, (or is it Sam?)

I've been busy "fiddling with PETRONAS plants" (maintenance works). One of these days, I'll be able to have some time to meet you. You've got an amazing array of gadgets & tools, not to mention stories!

I love my mom, and she loves knives!!!

My mom used to be interested whenever I sharpened her kitchen knives (using Triangle Sharpmaker of course!). Then she got very interested when she saw my Spydercos. Her comment: nice Stainless Steel & very sharp. However, she was a bit apprehensive about the folders which I had. Could be due to unfa...

Bring Back the Hollow Grind

When using the new Endura (Sabre Grind, VG-10), for food preparation particularly delicate peeling & making thin slices, it doesn't perform as good as the older hollow ground one. Perhaps it's due to the extra mass of bevel, somewhat interfering with the flow of cutting, especially for delicate cutt...

java,

Did you quote the news extract in Bahasa Malaysia by retyping it or copy-paste? If you retyped it, I'm very impressed! Didn't missed a letter! You're a very observant person I presumed <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Hi Kaizer, Soon you'll realise that <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> products is equivalent to Netsuke (a Japanese subject, discussed in previous threads). This is an object which by handling it, you can feel calmness & serenity. Can you feel it now? <img src="wink.gif...

Dynamite Duo

I'm on trial now for my EDC. Left side pocket: PE Tim Wegner, Right side pocket: SE Military, ready to face any cutting chores. The Wegner snugged nicely, despite its bulk, suprisingly for that category. Could be due to the curved shape of the handle. While for the Millie, although it's relatively l...

Wobbly Millie ?

I read somewhere (I think Glock Talk) about the Millie gets wobbly sideways after some hard use. I haven't experienced this but examining closely my Millie, if I hold the handle and the other hand holding the blade say 3/4 toward the tip, and move it sideways, sure it wobbles a bit. I think it is du...

dpsmith,
Welcome to the forum, you'll surely enhance your Spyderco knowledge here.

I think the notch is for RC hardness test? Saw a thread on it somewhere (here or BF?)

I believe for EDC size should be : Handle 3.75" to 4.0", Blade 2.75" to 3.25". This is just ideal for the hand, won't attract much attention (we want it to work, not attention, really <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>) Smaller than that, the one-hand opening/closing via t...

In term of function, I think non-SS handles served the purpose.

Only that for SS handles, you can easily wrist-flick open your knives, and the heft feels good in your hand.<img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Whichever you choose, get PlainEdge and Serrated each if you can afford it. Eventually you'll find out that certain thing is best handled by either one of the edges.

Ideal EDC Spydercos

I would like to ask those with better knowledge than me on blade & handle lengths produced by Spyderco. In my view, the ideal EDC lengths are : Blades 2.75" to 3.25" with Handles of 3.75" to 4.0". Generally they're politically correct, comfortable in the hand, nicely slip into the pocket and of cour...

G'day Impyboy, My 204 is good, except some rough feel on one of the fine grits. Rubbing together the stones solved the problem (but do it lightly). For the bent stones, I suggest don't do anything to it. I'm sure you can get help from the dealer you got it from in Australia. Normally, Spyderco deale...

My opinions :
1) It will eventually wear the edge flat, but it will take a mighty long time!<img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>
2) You'll need a sharp angle sharpener for that, which I don't know as yet.

Yeah Samo,
I thought so, it look so much like the Wegner. Futher down the scale should be the Jester, but I think it's just to small for me.
