I'll do one definitely for myself when I have time, Matt, but don't see a real pressing need to make a bunch of them. The factory sheath is good to go. I'll see you at the Indy 1500 Gun & Knife Show this weekend, and will have a Pygmy Warrior with me for you to check out for yourself.

Pygmy Warrior and Sheath

I've had some of Spyderco's Pygmy Warriors for several weeks now, and I am thoroughly impressed with both the knife and sheath. As delivered, the Pygmy Warrior w/sheath is perfect as a concealable self defense system. I use the term system because both the knife and sheath must interact efficiently ...

The sheath pictured with the Gunting is one of the HD Belt Holsters with an integral G-Glip I made for them.

Agree, a Trench Knife does not fit the Spyderco profile. It is more like something Cold Steel would and does make.

It is not actually an edge. It is more of a saw than an edge.

Bob Taylor's carry is more vertical than angled. First time I saw him carry this way was with an 8-9" guardless Warrior he calls the "Stealth Warrior". He deployed that from underneath a sports coat at one of the shows we were both at, and surprised the heck out of me. Naturally I had...

Definitely agree with you, Mike. Straight in, straight out. Any twist in the motion either way (off-axis) will drag the edge on the inside of the sheath. Key words: proper technique.

Just a suggestion from a whitewater kayaker with at least 30 years experience: why not just use para cord through the eyelets of the sheath for attachment, instead of some kind of clip? You can get a flatter lie on the PFD, plus attach to shoulder strap, lash tab, or chest adjustment webbing; anywhe...

The design has been around for a while, but never put into production. Before REKAT decided to close its doors, the Pygmy Warrior was the last project to hit the prototype stage, but that's as far as it got. 3 protos were made, I did the sheaths for them, but then REKAT chose to go out of business. ...

The thing with history is that it needs to be correct. I'll address the sheath side 'cause that's my ballpark and my name was mentioned. BTW it is Mike, not Jim. Totally agree that the Warrior design and purpose is best served with a kydex/Concealex combat scabbard. The very first sheaths provided d...

Great story,Tonie! If you like the Pocket Hobbit and Hobbit Warrior, you should also like Spyderco's soon to be released Pygmy Warrior. It is basically a fixed blade version the size of a deployed Pocket Hobbit, with a handle who's thickness can be adjusted to your hand size. Sheath will have a G-Cl...

Tonie, Here's a comparison picture for you (couldn't find it when first posted). The middle holster is by Skunkworks. They work ok as a general rule, but if you are doing a lot o practice draws or using the knife more than casually, the HD model functions better over time. Added another look at the ...

The original Pocket Hobbit breakfront sheaths were made by "Skunkworks" out of .093 kydex; good concept (don't know whose), inconsistent execution. When REKAT sent some Pocket Hobbits to the 75th Rangers, they had me make my HD (.125 Concealex) version of the concept to be used with them. ...

I could have swore that I did indeed hear at one time, through a very established Forum member say that the Gray handled, ATS-55 Matriarch models were intended for the South African market. I had also heard that many years ago as well. It hasn't been that long ago ( maybe a year at the most) that I...
