Re: Rockjumper new blade shape?

It does seem like the name would suggest the blade shape. I think I'd prefer a leaf over a straight spine, it would be more comfortable for thumb placement I think.

Re: I grossly underestimated the Native Chief

Maybe. But on a €210 (=$250) knife from a brand claiming to have tight tolerances for me there's no way around that that here is a "flaw"... and I'd consider Vivi's Chief flawed as well. Wouldn't you? Just for comparision: I handled half a dozen examples of the Manly Peak, which is a very comparabl...

Re: What’s your best made Spydie?

I'd say my Southard is way up there. You'd have to go way up the price ladder to something like CRK or custom to get a better fit and finish.

Re: I grossly underestimated the Native Chief

I keep getting this from Spyderco... basically every single knife I bought had flaws like this. I'm not exaggerating, it's been every single one . Because I like the designs I force myself into condoning the obvious, but once again I'm just baffled. That is very unlucky. Are you buying them from a ...

Re: DIY Ladybug / Manbug Pocket Clip

I've got some thin lightweight cord, I can't remember the brand but it's crazy strong for how thin it is. You could use it to tie a standard deep carry pocket clip to the lanyard hole and make a dangle clip.

Re: SE performance is more than simply teeth vs no teeth.

To repeat my key learning, to sharpen serrations successfully, you have to be patient and let the SM do it’s work. It is desirable for the points to mellow out and round off over time! Work towards that. In hindsight, this makes a lot of sence... Sometimes you just need one good example to make a c...

So, is this a Caribbean SE killer?

Depends on how you look at it. If corrosion resistance is important then definitely not. Overall beefiness will also be debatable. Slicing superiority may be going to the P4, we'll see.

Re: Blade HQ M4/Jade Rock Lobster

I think I'm going to have to pass on this today, which really is surprising to say. It's a model I've wanted to see in some kind of production again for years, but I just have almost no interest in plain edge at all anymore and I know if I buy one it'll just sit in the box. I haven't used my origina...

Re: Much needed CQI on Taichung Spydercos.

I feel like most of us can agree that knives shouldn't be easily opened with inertia/wrist flicks? I feel like that should be the minimum requirement of any detent.

I tried graphite powder years ago, didn't like how it felt. In a Native LW it was more gritty than smooth.

Re: Much needed CQI on Taichung Spydercos.

My kapara has too strong of a detent and my GB2 has a light detent where I can shake the blade out upside down. Also I hate how sharp the **** thumb hole is on most models. Funny my new k390 endura had a nice melt job from the factory. Thumbhole was very smooth not sharp. The thumb hole thing is hi...

Re: Left handed SpyderEdge

I would love to try this if it were readily available on a model. I've done some whittling with the standard grind with some success but I do think it would be easier with the grind on the other side.

This is of course one of those "please the righties and screw the lefties" ordeals though.

Re: Much needed CQI on Taichung Spydercos.

I think I made this same thread a while back when I got my (the same) Caribbean. I'll be fine with it after a while until I pick up a different Spyderco that has a much stronger detent and then it's a bit shocking. Some of these knives could easily pass a "gravity knives" so I think it's a legit con...

Wow, I didn’t think they would ever bring this back.

It's almost as if they're looking at the catalog trying to hand pick models that have come and gone and secondary prices have gone up.

I was set on ordering until that reveal dropped. Now I may need to do some harder prioritizing.

I spend my work days in a truck and listen to a lot of music. One of my favorite things to do is to listen to an entire artist's discography from start to finish. Today we're going through the middle generation albums by Slayer :)

Ha! Yeah I also bought some more red and titanium dye, I had planned on doing this one in red too but that grey caught my eye and I gave it a try. I really wasn't expecting the result I got.
