Utility knife test, which blade is the best? The Project Farm is a YouTube channel that tests all sorts of things like oils, drill bits, batteries, etc. In the video linked below he did a test of utility knife blades that I found interesting. He tries to develop appropriate testing methods and this ...

Re: Interested in getting my PPL. Any pilots out there?

I'm interested in watching this topic. I never got a PPL, just spent a few hours in a rented Cessna 172 with a buddy that was licensed. He let me fly the plane, the basics were pretty easy and while I wanted to fly more I decided a pilot needed to be 100% focused and knew that sooner or later I woul...

Re: Top Chilli tips?

A small square of baker's chocolate will smooth out the cumin and improve the taste of chili. A can of Hominy is a great, low octane (gas), substitute for beans. Masa flower, ground corn, is great for the flavor and it will thicken your chili effectively. If you cannot find masa, run a can of hominy...

Re: Overturning of Knife Restrictions

Thanks in no small part to Knife Rights and in particular, Doug Ritter. If you are not a member/supporter please consider joining and supporting their efforts. Even of your state doesn't have draconian knife laws, we still have a Federal law against automatic knives that is not only silly and ill co...

Re: Ethnic series - complete listing

It pre-dates the series, but I think of the Spyderco Laguiole/Ramco knife as an ethnic knife.

The Respect Bowie knife looks fantastic! With bolt on scales it could easily be converted to the perfect Bowie with a set of coffin scales.

Re: Interesting spalting in tamarind board

I've used spalted tamarind a few times and usually get it from a local hardwood vendor. I'm using it to build jewelry chests and other small items, so it isn't stabilized. It has a tendency to move a lot with humidity levels, so if you are going to use it on something like knife scales, it would be...

Re: Interesting spalting in tamarind board

Interesting, I had never thought of Tamarind wood, I love the goo from Tamarind pods in drinks and as a food condiment. Is the wood pretty dense and has it been stabilized?

Re: Death Penalty/Capital Punishment: Does it work as a deterrant to violent crime and murder?

Dead premeditated murders, mass killers and sexual perverts have a 0.0% recidividsm rate. Criminals are aware of the penalties for their crimes. Why else would drug dealers employ juveniles to carry out their crimes because if caught they receive less punishment than an adult. Another example occurr...

Re: "Talkin' Story"

When working on a government site, 3" blade limitation, I carried a Spyderco Tasman with yellow scales. One day a coworker was trying to open a box of printer paper. I took out the Tasman and cut the plastic bands. She remarked, "Those wicked teeth on the blade are scary it but cut really well. I re...
