sharpmaker issue

So I've had my sharp maker for a couple years now and I love it. It's always put a great edge on everything. I bought the diamond rods and the ultra fine rods and I've had no trouble with the system except for one thing. For some reason whenever I sharpen something I seem to end up with a somewhat b...

I'd think that tungsten carbide would be too prone to rust? I know tungsten inclusion in welding will rust. Aside from that tungsten carbide is super brittle which would be alleviated to some degree by using it in a coating but, still. Still an interesting question though. As a metal fabricator I co...

As has been said the "antiquing" that you've pointed out could be done by hand. It all depends on what you're looking for. The well worn appearance you linked to I would personally try and do by hand will a combination of high grit sand paper and scotch brite. I'm thinking that you may be ...

Spyderco Flippers?

Are there any flippers? I haven't been able to find one that ever happenend. FTR I mean a flipper as in a leek or something not a bali. It's just weird to me. I like spyderco stuff as a whole but, I would love a flipper. I thought maybe there is some legal issues with them and maybe there is but, I ...

If they were able to produce a flipper specific without the giant holes on the bottom people would eat em alive. Hopefully they could set up shop in a different state or do something as there are tons of companies and custom makers selling balis over state lines.

http://spyderco.com/forums/showthread.php?t=33326 Spyderco balis being hard to find / purchase might also have a lot to do with what KGM said in this thread. A lot of the information in this thread also points as to why this should be in the restricted forum which is what Blerv was driving at I'm a...

Well I know they're illegal in CA but, they aren't in MA. I don't know because it seems to me that they Are at least legal to have (if not carry) more often than not. Anyways sorry if this should be in restricted models. They aren't restricted for me so when I see the name of the forum I think autos...

Ya actually and its way cheaper than I thought. Still seems pretty popular on different forums. At that price I'd say its worth a go. Make sense now that you point that out. I just assumed and as per usual...

No guys don't get me wrong I would be perfectly happy with a 42 and 154cm (it was my first choice). It just makes me feel a little better to get materials that are usually higher end seeing that I'm pretty much forced to pay 200+(or way more) if I want it. I'm not a steel snob at all its just at tha...

Na I'll just suck it up and get the 51. It is too bad that spyderco doesn't do em anymore. I have flipped a spyderfly a bit. At least the 51 is G10 with anodized titanium and a d2 blade. Kinda makes me feel better than paying more for 154cm and nothing special ti.

No decent production balis at reasonable price?

I've always liked balisongs. Had a few cheapies when I was younger. Just like flipping. Anyways I was always too sane to fork over more than say 40 for a butterfly knife until now. Now I want a quality flipper. So I think to myself "self, why don't you get that bm 42?" Well I'm just blown ...

broken clip

While walking by a welding platen today the corner caught my ffg endura clip and it tore it in two right at the lanyard hole. I was able to weld it back together and it seems fine but, I'd like a new one. I know you can get new clips from spyderco but, I'm not sure how as I've never had to. I could ...

AFAIK m4 is used in a lot of blade sports competition knives. I'm not sure what the sport is really called but, I'm sure most have seen it. Here's a yt video rather then describe it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yRNiAhrIqNo Anyways I may be wrong but, I do believe M4 is used often in those blades ...

You can magnetize any steel by striking it continuously in one direction. You can do it even easier when striking with a magnet. Mechanics and like minded people often do this to screwdrivers to retrieve screws and hardware that's out of reach. I don't think this is possible with non ferrous metals ...

Sufficient as far as corrosion resistance or functionality? There are phosphor bronze bushings at the pivot that are actually self lubricating AFAIK. I'm not too sure about that 8CrMOV13 blade and corrosion resistance as I don't have any myself but, really with any steel just be sure to wip down the...
