I kind of think they're just as needed, only the emphasis has shifted. You're not likely to need to kill something with it, but you do get a lot more wa~ay too hard to open hard plastic packages.

I really want to test drive the Poliwog. I've handled them, but I really want to try cutting all sorts of different consistencies to see how the ergonomics hold up.

I actually like the sabre ground blades best.

I'm just more used to working with them I guess. Also, I have more faith in their durability.

What about a nylon sheath with maybe an FRN entry point? Cheap, and fairly durable.

Yah. I'm really curious about the byrd take on it though. So, both aspects are appealing.

What about the idea of a byrd fixed blade? I for one don't have the funds for the regular Spyderco fixed blades; the byrd high quality and value we all know and love, paired with the increased durability would make me a happy camper, that's for sure.

Just throwing thoughts out there, but ...

I know there's a thread on it, but a Spyderco take on a tanto tip, yojimbo style would be awesome in the Ladybug size.

Actually, I'd almost prefer the Jester in AUS8 or 8Cr13MoV to VG10.

For me, a lot of the appeal of the Jester is its cheap excellence.

And yes, I would adore a new Jester.
