Hey guys, I got my cf m390 millie Friday and it is AWESOME!! My favorite part is the pattern on the CF; you can actually see the pattern even though it is peel ply (unlike Seki Cf where you have to tilt it to show the pattern). I also have the jimping issue, not sure what happened there, but it isn'...

Tomorrow me and Mr. Keating's Chinook 3 will be once more into the breach! My brother in law and I are taking a road trip to El Paso Texas and from there into Juarez Mexico. I know that place is like a war zone but the schedule is set and we're going regardless! We went a year ago and it went realt...

I recently started using a belt to sharpen my knives. I finish off with a 6µ which according to a chart I'm sure lots of you've seen equates to the SM ultrafine. I do finish off with the SharpMaker fine rod. If I don't it just doesn't seem finished. Like some of you have said, I guess the belt does...

yea That more polished edge just doesn't feel as sharp to me ( speaking of my personal level of sharpening ) although most of the time they still pass my sharpness test . I am a long way from an expert in this area though . I tend to do more harm than good if I try to polish or I'm getting a false ...

thanks for the input . My edges never "feel" likes their's A lot of knives come from the factory (not necessarily Spyderco's) feeling very sharp, but that is usually a residual burr. A properly sharpened/polished edge with have some bite, but it doesn't feel "sharp" the same way...

I've read in your post that you have machines to do the grinding on your blades , but what about final sharpening . Do you use a belt sanding system ,or a paper wheel system or just freehand. I'm referring to your production knives ,not personal preference. Although your personal preference would b...

We share some of the same thoughts; I thought it would be MUCH bigger for some reason, but I'm not disappointed at all. The choil isn't very comfortable for me though.

The handles aren't coated in anything as far as I know. What I like to do is take a green scotchbrite pad and move in a motion parallel with the handle (lengthwise). The end result looks great.

Yeah, I have it pre-ordered from amazon for the limited edition one (pc) after participating in the beta. A lot of people have been saying they don't like the MP, but I enjoyed it quite a bit. I'm sick of COD honestly. I'm still pondering the idea of buying Black Ops.

Liking that 710-1 huh? :P

The only m390 I have is on my volt, but I haven't sharpened it yet. Not impressed with the factory edge though.

I think it would be a great steel for a military or manix.

It would be REALLY cool if they would let you watch them fix it for you, but that's a long shot. Looking forw...

I've experienced this with a couple of spyderco lock backs and you fix it by finding the perfect "zen" between the pivot and the screw right behind it. You'll have to play with the tightness or looseness of both to get it right. Make sure to put some blue loctite on them before you start!

There is no digi cam para with a serrated blade IIRC. You'll need to buy a se para and a digi para and switch the blades and locking liner. This will void the warranty FYI, but I've done it with many military's without a problem except for a couple stripped screws (they strip easily so be careful).

It's not as bad as you think. Straight razors are generally deeply hollow-ground on both sides, and you can rest the spine on the stone at the same time as the edge to hold more or less the correct angle. Because of that, I'd say it might even be a smidge easier than sharpening a folder or kitchen ...
