That's what I've read too. I'll have to talk to my counselor, but it would be really cool if I could take a metalworking or blademsith class or two.

Yup, a saluki. It's an Egyptian racing dog, I'm not quite sure why they chose that as the mascot.

Because he was the one who made damascus steel more popular in the US. He and Bill Moran are many times seen as the people who revitalized damascus steel to what it is today.

New School

hey all, I just started my first classes at Southern Illinois University, and just got a chance to explore the campus today and visited the campus museum, and got very excited when there was an exhibit about metalworking. I got really excited when I saw the focus of the exhibit was about Daryl Meier...

I think the box for the original is almost exactly the same as the fake. The photos I've seen online showed the same one. Unfortunately, I can't seem to contact the person I got it from anymore, so I guess I wont even get the persistence he offered me in return.

Yeah, i was only going to do enough to take out the little grooves you can see. Now that I look at it i may have a tough time with it because I can't take it apart and sanding around the pins may be challenging.

Polishing Carbon Fiber

So I just got my first caly 3 a few days ago, the carbon fiber zdp-189 version. The one thing that I think could make it a bit better was if the carbon fiber handles had a finer, higher grit finish. I was wondering if anyone out there has taken some high grit sandpaper to their caly 3 to smooth it o...

Currently I've got the brown ffg delica in my left pocket, zdp-189 ladybug with a suspension clip in the right, and sometimes a yellow tasman salt iwb if i'm expecting some tougher work. I'm looking foreward to a caly 3 cf in the next few days, which will probably kick out the delica.

I put a patina on an opinel pretty easily using some vinegar. It doesn't take too long to get a dark finish.

This thread was the last straw to convince me to get a caly 3. I've been holding back for a while, but I will probably be getting the carbon fiber/ laminated ZDP-189 version soon.

I'm considering the damascus delica, but I'm still not sure if I'm ready to spend that much money. If I do get it then it'll be my most expensive knife yet.

I'm lusting over that orange damascus delica. I've wanted a real high quality gentleman's knife for a while, but it's alot more than I have ever spent on a knife. Would the resale value on the secondary market after a while be high enough to make most of that money back?

Yup, that's the idea. A waved knife has some sort of little hook to grab onto the pocket while you pull it out so that it opens as you draw it out of your pocket.

Well, i just found out he got it in a different trade from someone who got it from a gun show. The guy is offering him a persistence to make up for it. Now the guy I got it from is saying I can either take the persistence or nothing. What a great way to start out knife trading. :( And now he thinks ...

Yeah, I'm just not sure if I should ask for my knife back or money equivalent to it. He was nice enough, though.it's just frustrating to get excited about something and find out it's not what I wanted.
