Honestly, imo for this sort of gentleman's knife I feel like FRN or the regular textured G10 would almost ruin the look of the knife.

I was pretty set on getting the ZDP-189 D'fly. That is, until I read through a bunch of horror stories on the perils of sharpening ZDP. I pretty much suck at sharpening, so should I just go with the VG-10 version? It seems to me like the D'fly's thin blade + edge geometry would make it fairly easy ...

Was spyderco the one to come up with this idea though? Since I have seen it on lionsteels knives for a long while now, ex the SR-1 and some others I forget. Just wondering who the credit should be going to. Credit goes to spyderco. They improved on a design and made it their own with their superior...

In my experience the texture of peel ply CF outlasts that of peel ply G-10, so there is a tangible benefit to it. Whether that, plus the underlying CF pattern making it more attractive than peel ply G-10, justifies the price difference is something one must decide for oneself. That does make it mor...

The peel-ply process sandwiches the CF during curing between outer plastic layers that are peeled off after the CF resins have cured. These plastic layers have a texture pattern on the side facing the CF and leaves that pattern (actually the negative of the pattern) on the surface of the CF. The sa...

No fuzzier than it I imagine that it makes folks when they proudly display their lack of knowledge on the Internet. I happen to think that it's irresponsible for people to insight panic or distress by spreading misinformation. Bringing inappropriate scare terms like "fallout" and "Hi...

I dont own either of those knives so I couldnt tell you but the CF on the Stretch is textured and grippy. If I closed my eyes and felt the handle I would think its G10. Very functional.

Fallout? Hiroshima? Really? May I suggest a course in physics? Yes I exaggerated but I was serious. Does it make you all fuzzy inside when you attempt to make cute remarks to make yourself feel superior? FYI the most recent nuclear reactor explosion knocked out connection to family members living i...

CF Stretch AMAZING

I just got a CF Stretch via trade and I didnt think I would like it as much as I did since I already owned both FRN variants but I really love the CF Stretch. Its definitly heavier but its still a decent weight and I dont mind it that much. Also the CF version feels much more robust and solid and ju...

I would buy a Starmate of any type of lock, any steel, any scales. I've always wanted one but the price on one of these bad boys is borderline insanity.

Buy a Para 2 which has ROCK solid lockup and problem fixed! :D Sorry that was no help, I dont think you can ever fix vertical play on your own the way you can usually fix side to side play. If its minimal play I would try to ignore it otherwise send it in.

Part of the reason it's smoother than the original is due to the pivot bushing it uses, first seen in the Manix 2. Works great and helps impart a nice, fluid action. The pivot bushing seems non existant to me. I can tighten down the pivot and the blade will have a very hard time opening so either t...
