The UTCP from Tuffwriter. It is a work of art, and can do everything it is supposed to do. I have several of the UCP aluminum versions, as well as several of Tuff Writers Operator Series pens. I was an early funder for the UTCP, and I shot the "teaser" video for Jack. So I am biased. The TiBolt is ...

I have a Delica trainer that has been in use for more than 12 years. Thousands upon thousands of inertial openings with no lock failure. I also own several Endura trainers and newer Delica trainers that all see hard training use. No failures.

I recommend The Spyderco trainers to all of my students ...

The Yojimbo 2 was designed with one purpose in mind. It was designed for personal defense, and for that purpose the tip is thick enough. The knife punctures with almost no resistance, and cuts with constant, if not increasing pressure when drawn or pressured through a target. You may use yours in ...

Hello psycophipps,

Thank you for the kind words concerning the production values of the series. We worked hard on it.

Mike Janich's instruction is first rate (yes I have drunk the Kool-Aid deeply - and a lot of single-malt scotch as well). The system is logical and scalable, and is accessible to ...

As others have said, the opening is performed with the ring finger. If you are trying to learn the opening, one way to get the mechanics down, is to start with the knife in the open position, put your hand in the position it would be in if you had finished the opening, and then reverse engineer ...

With respect to all,

As regards making a drone from a live blade for training purposes, from an MBC perspective it is not a good idea. You can flatten and round the live blade with great skill, and you will end up with a dangerous training tool. The edge will always be too thin, and as it has been ...

DemSkeetSkeet,

I don't know where your are in Michigan, but there is a full MBC instructor in the Chicago area, and a couple full instructors in the Columbus, OH area.

There is a seminar scheduled September 30 - October 2 in Grove City, OH.

There is also an MBC brother/practitioner who lives west ...

Also thanks ...

Hello David,

I am not Mike J., but I have trained with him privately for nearly 11 years. I am also the first person to test for proficiency ( our equivalent of a black belt) in the MBC/CBC system, and the first student to be awarded full instructors credentials in Mike's system. It is safe to say ...

Just the facts.

Mike works on very small batches of these knives, 15 at a time not 50. Mike is not a factory.

I cannot prevent someone from ordering more than one knife at a time. Sorry.

More knives will be coming. There is no fixed schedule for release.

A little more perspective.

Qship is my "age and treachery" hero. I have never known a slipperier, smoother player. He was training T'ai Chi, and JKD with the big boys in CA in the early 70's. A very talented and dangerous martial artist.

He also put in more than "time" with Mike Janich. "Q" was ...

With respect to all,

Not much of a poster here, but I thought that I would throw my 2 cents in.

A lot of interesting discussion here, but perhaps we are focusing on a specific tool (RGEI knife) and the tactics to support that tool as opposed to the bigger self-defense picture.

First, I am a certified instructor in MBC ...
