Comparison pic

Figured I'd drop in a comparison pic taken in natural light to see how the colors come out. This Delica is a nice tight piece. It'll be a few weeks before I start feeling how the new blade material works for me. The Superblue and VG-10 in the other blades are known quantities both having been used a...

Re: HAP40 Delica has arrived!!

The FFG Delica has thin stock, 2.5mm. I can't guess what angle the stock edge had but the edge is very repectable. a serious slicer. The original edge is also very well done.

HAP40 Delica has arrived!!

hap40delica .jpg Was delivered today after a 4 or 5 month wait with a preorder. Feels good holding a Delica again :D I've given away 4 Delicas over the years and was left without  This is quite a nice one. The spring is very strong. The blade is well centered. Blade is very tight all direction...

What did you use to carve your Jack O' Lantern?

Carved my first pumpkin in 15 yrs. today :) The pumpkin looks it  but should serve it's purpose and make a few kiddies happy this evening :) It will have a whopping 2 candlepower, literally ;) Even though the shell on this pumpkin was about 1.5" thick  the Kiwi4 did quite well. The Ki...

Re: DO the rods on your SharpMaker move or do they fit tight?

I've noticed this but also noticed a trend. The brown stones fit tightly while the white stones fit loosely. Think about what you are doing to the edge and it makes sense :) Then I got the CBN rods, they fit loosely. I guess the CBN rods don't give a flip   ;) The angle difference is ...

5 most often used Spydercos

Not currently seeking out new models to buy rather savoring and enjoying those I have now. This is just a snapshot of my most currently used models The FB models pretty much stay the same riding in my lunchbox everyday. The folders get switched out according to whim or need. The Caspian Salt is a be...

Probably anything with his Maker mark, and you can't dismiss the "Portable Hand"

Good use from Spyderco kitchen knives

Thank You Spyderco for making the kitchen knives available :D How many folks are enjoying these things? I find myself truly delighted using the two I have. The handles are comfortable, the blades are exquisitely thin, edge retention is good, sharpening is a breeze, and they are extremely lightweight...

Re: Garunteed way of Native in your pocket

The Native is in my pocket right now :)

Given it's XHP the uber sharpness will be limited. Sure is a good way to get the Native in my pocket again ;)

Being aware and able to sharpen has come from this forum. A knowledge I recommend to all :)

Garunteed way of Native in your pocket

I've been preoccupied with the beautiful Techno and Schempp Bowie so the formerly often used Native has been languishing on my desktop  Thankfully I had the forethought to purchase a DMT XXC stone and a replacement for the abused XC stone for my DMT Aligner kit which I use for reprofiling. I've...

Re: Knife storage and maintanence

You want to be careful the carbon steel knives have a light coating of oil on them before storage. I just looked a a turn of the century carbon steel knife in my toolbox drawer that I haven't looked at for over 3 years. I put a light coat of oil on it before storage and it is doing fine now after 3 ...

Schempp Bowie slicer

I might have to put a light coating of oil on the super blue Endura and let it sit for a while  The Schempp Bowie has completely supplanted it  I received the Bowie a few weeks ago, reprofiled the edge, and have been using it since then. This knife slices almost as well as the K  Open...

Re: Knife storage and maintanence

Hello Lukez21 These knives are not very fragile and don't require constant care. I go to the extreme of cleaning and oiling my 10 or so folders as little as possible  The vast majority of my maintenance is making sure the edges stay very very sharp :D I generally clean them thorougly in a hot s...

Re: Schempp Bowie impressions

I've been playing with the Bowie and using it for anything I need a knife for all day. It keeps getting nicer the more I use it :D :D It helps that I've enhanced the edge a bit, that helps it cut easier. I'm a firm believer in minimal force cutting ;) But the smoothness of the pivot action Just won'...
