Re: Store won't be selling Spyderco Knives anymore?
I have used Derrick's site a couple of times, to buy Spyderco's, actually. I recall that he is a very nice guy and seemed to put a lot into service and communication. I feel bad that the Spyderco line is no longer something he can offer, and I wish him well.

Re: Any leads on a caly 3.5 SB
I have thinned out my collection a lot over the past 2 years, but one of my go-to staples is my Caly 3.5 SB. I have gotten rid of a lot of knives that I really enjoy, but this one is a keeper.
And my post is totally not helping you find one. Sorry about that.

Re: The pain of being a dedicated "user"
I had quite a stash at one time. Now I am down to a handful of users. I only have one safe queen (my Navaja). Somewhere along the line I changed from a user/collector to just a user. I see plenty of new models that come along and get the itch a bit, but don't pull the trigger because right now I hav...

Re: A change in tone
I think that this forum, like most others, goes through cycles where there are flare-ups of what Blerv describes. This forum has gone through that in the past. Maybe it's going through it now - I don't participate as much as I used to so I have not observed anything drastically different. This is co...

Re: eBay fakes
It seems like there are several fake Ti Millies out there from overseas sellers. Thanks for pointing this out.brian0918 wrote:http://www.ebay.com/itm/Spyderco-C36TIP ... 1824854032

I was going to post about this one too - someone has placed a bid of $100 on it. Looks like a pretty poor fake at that.

What amazes me is not that there is a seller, but that there are buyers.
I guess there are folks that gotta have these.

I have 3 hawkbills and they are each serrated. That's how I like to roll with a hawkbill.

Re: Don't have your knives sharpened at the gun show
There is usually some Bubba that sharpens at our local gun shows. He uses what looks like a belt sander to sharpen. It is possible to do a reasonable job with a belt sander, most manufacturers do that. Spyderco sharpens their knives by hand I believe using belt sanders. Also you can find threads on...

Re: New Orange Dodo
I use my Dodo almost daily. I have the orange model and previously owned the CF. The CF was one of those knives that was just too nice for me to really use. I fondled it some but ended up selling it to free up funds for another knife. If there is another sprint, I would hope for a serrated edge vers...

I don't personally know Wouter but I really enjoy his photo reports from the Amsterdam show. It's one of the mini-highlights of my winter. I am grateful that he does this each year.

I don't have a use for any of that information. It would not change how I would intend to use the knife.

Re: Sintered Metals & Ceramics: Possibly In Spyderco's Fut
Before you jump into ceramics and solid carbide blades there are a few options in what are only loosely steels : -121REX -MaxaMet These are two steels which are capable of a working hardness of 70+ HRC with extreme carbide volumes and severe resistance to abrasive wear. However they are still steel...

Re: Manix XL
There have been numerous threads over the years about batoning with folders. Consensus seems to be that using a folding knife to baton through wood is using the wrong tool for the job. Kind of like chiseling wood with a screwdriver.
