Re: Forum Calendar Mailing for Entrants

Online order submission seems to be broken (tried Safari and Chrome). Gets all the way to the end then error 500.

Re: Can anyone identify this C35 Q?

For reference this specific example sold for $380 in used condition (blade chips / scratches), no clip, no box. Q collecting is a tough game to be in these days...

Re: ATS-55: A Brief but Interesting Era in Spyder History

I didn't realize that fact about the Aluminum model (ATS-55 later gave way to VG-10). Once I got my hands on the Titanium version I was pretty much set. That knife is amazingly smooth and beautiful and is one I will never give up.

Pretty sure these (the original German made Titanium models) were 440C, but I don't have mine in front of me to check at the moment.

From there they went to VG-10 on the Aluminum handled variety.

Re: Washer material

I've heard of many people using Ballistol on knives and also that it is food safe. Still not sure about washers, polymers, etc. Seems crazy to me... and also worth investigating. I keep meaning to pick some up one of these days and test it out.

Re: Valeline as a pivot lube?

Rubbing wax on carbon steel blades to protect them is an old timer trick that goes back way before my time and may be a practice that is largely forgotten now. I think basically every museum and preservationist does this, though I won't dispute that the knowledge may have disappeared some from the ...

Re: Original Ten Spyderco Knives?

Steel liners have also changed from single to double and solid to drilled in many cases. In some models increased strength was desired (or to help prevent clip screw pull out in scale materials that don't hold as well), in others the goal seemed to be to reduce overall weight. Not sure how/if this e...

Re: Spyderco knives that will increase in value?

I think it is safe to say that nearly all of Spyderco's models will increase in value at some point. Most of the current standard production models likely won't gain a tremendous amount of value (from a collector's standpoint) due to ease of availability. It is difficult to determine which model (s...

They all look fine to me. A couple are close very near the tips, but still seem to be within range. Are you using a calibrated display (with a browser that supports color profiles)?

Wow, nice digging, thanks everyone! I wasn't the high bidder either, but I had to know more about it since in 15+ years of collecting I've never seen or heard of another one like it.

Q Identification

Do any of the Q experts out there know who this version was made for and what the cutout represents? The pic isn't mine, but was part of an auction that ended recently.
Unknown C35SBK Q model.
Unknown C35SBK Q model.
The final price was almost $340 for a possibly used model with no box or clip
