Possible new Spydie movie
Just saw a commercial for a new movie, "Abandon". In the first 2 seconds, there's a flash of a Spyderco being opened. From the glimpse I got, it looked like a Delica or Endura, but I had no sense of scale and they didn't show the entire knife.

Solo Buttonlock... Who has one?
I was surfing around looking for new Spydies on the online catalogue. I ran across the Solo Buttonlock again, and thought, might as well, it's only $25 from the website. I just wanted to know how many of you have one, and what you guys think of it. It looks as though it would make an excellent EDC, ...

The nylon used by Spyderco comes in a bag of pellets, already the color used. Throw it in a hopper, melt it, then injection mold it into a mold filled with fiberglass filaments (The fiberglass itself would probably clog the injectors), and there's your knife scale. Changing the color of nylon means ...

I think it would be cool to see a varying grind in a Spydie. Take the saber grind, start with flat grind at the kick and, as you move toward the tip, belly the grind more. However, there are real problems with doing this in a production knife. A grind is just that, done on a grinder. Changing the gr...

The only mods I can think of to the existing design would be: 1: Put a better detent on the compression lock. For a blade that heavy and with that obvious profile, the ramp detent doesn't do a good enough job of keeping the blade closed. A ball-bearing-style detent IMO would work much better. This s...

1. Lockbacks A. rear (eg: Buck 110) B. mid (eg: Native) C. front (eg: early Al Mars, Spyderco Rescue) 2. Linerlock 7. Frame Lock (Chris Reeve style integral linerlock) 8. Compression Lock 9. Balisong Lock 1.) My favorite lock besides the Compression lock. Strong, relaible, and simple. However, if it...

The Gunting does require some practice; however, it's nothing that can't be learned. You might want to look out for MBC classes in your area. Anyway, moving on to the knives for less training/cost: The Civilian and Matriarch were designed specifically for people with no training in knife fighting. I...

I can do the flick close on a couple of my knives, but the endura has a strong lock and a stiff hinge, so I do the normal one: Rotate the knife in your hand so the lever realease is under your middle finger, you index finger is against the spine of the blade, and your thumb is at the base of the han...

I think it's great. Only two modifications. First, reverse the orientation of the bottle opener, so the hinge side of the knife would face the bottle when using it. That way, you can draw it from tip-down (or tip-up for that matter), and use it more like an ordinary bottle opener, with most of the h...

It is without a doubt one of the best EDC knives Spyderco ever made. VG-10 steel, compact yet comfortable, a blade design that went through any everyday material without blinking, and they were cheap! I got two of em for less than my Police cost, and one of them was from the SFO! so now I have one t...

To clean your knife, don't be afraid to put it under a faucet. With the water going, apply some soap or detergent (I use dish detergent) and scrub the blade with a washcloth to remove dirt and built-up oil. Then, put a drop more of soap in the pivot and open and close the knive several times, giving...
