I don't have a major preference between the three-screws clips and the barrel clips, although the barrel clips do give you a more "low profile" feel. What I do like are BLACK CLIPS. For knives with black synthetic handles, I mean. I think all G-10, FRN, and CF handled knives should also co...

I usually have a tip-up 50/50 Endura or PE Chinese Folder in my right pocket, but most of the time when I need to use a knife I end up with the PE Almite Navigator from my left pocket. I would, though, like to reconfigure so that one knife is fully SE and one's fully PE. I like black clips, so I'm t...

Are knife laws generally enforced in the absence of other crimes? I'm just wondering how much to worry about the letter of the law. I drive up and down the East Coast fairly regularly, all the way from Boston to Miami with a 50/50 Endura in one pocket and a Navigator in the other. Do I really need t...

My current pair are Bolle brand, the actual model is the Puff Adder. Got 'em for five bucks at a T.J. Maxx, but they still have 100% UV protection. I used to wear Ray-Ban Outdoorsman IIs all the time but you can't flip them up on top of your skull like the wraparounds. I really miss my vintage Ray-B...

Knife: FRN Endura PS
Watch: Citizen Eco-Drive World Timer
Pen: Cross Ion

I used to carry a Fisher Space Pen (AG7) but the ink globbed like crazy if you started writing with it after not using it for a while. Even with regular use, it just wasn't as smooth a writing instrument as the newer gel pens.

Citizen Eco-Drive GMT World Timer: great watch for the price if you want a 24-hour hand ... but my next watch will probably be a trusty black Casio (I miss the illuminated dial and I'm tired of constantly having to adjust the date at the end of the month).

I prefer tip-up also, for the reasons others have mentioned ... what's great about Spyderco, though, is that the product line is split almost 50/50 between tip-up and tip-down models (I count 16 out of 34 knives in the catalog as tip-up). What's interesting is that most of the custom collaboration k...

Green Almite dings?

I've had an Almite Navigator for less than a year--it rode in my pocket (with assorted coins) and in less than a year the almite is pretty dinged up on the edges. That's OK: I'm more of a user than a collector. But a friend just gave me a Chinese Folder for xmas, and (because it's a much more expens...
